Femfrankies' Big Steps & Little Uns

Shrinking For Sophie
I suppose my first milestone has to be getting that all important funding and with it came the realisation and recognition that I needed to change my eating habits drastically. No big deal I hear you saying but for me it was. I was eating my way rapidly into an early grave and at 51years old i had failed to really take on board why?

I'm now 12 stone lighter and have had numerous milestones along the way but the one that really makes me warm inside was changing my granddaughters nappy on my lap.. I've never had one of those before!
Or hearing my mother in law laugh at me while I chased my granddaughter down her drive when little madams hand slipped from my grip and shouting to me "you never would have been able to do that last year!"
There are others that mean a lot and I'm sure many will share them with me
My seat belt fits with loads to spare now :)
I can squeeze into those silly booth tables now oh and navigate round restaurant chairs too without people having to get out of their chairs to make room. Even better I can actually fit into the darn chair!
And there is the clothes. Buying my first pair of Marksies size 24 knickers and broadcasting the fact to anyone that would listen

I'm a size 16/18 now & I still have at least three and a half stone to lose with many more milestones to go I hope. At least I can put them here and keep track of em now :)

Fantastic milestones Frankie! I don't know about you, but I was told by my gp to except some improvement to my quality of life post op and that even 5 stone would make a difference...I don't think I could have imagined my achievements at that time.

So right Yve. It just wasn't tangible to me in the beginning. We weren't born super morbidly obese and looking back I never noticed me getting there either. That's how insidious it is. You continue to eat all the wrong things, ways etc and wham suddenly you arrive.
My husband who has been an absolute rock through all this said something yesterday... I never saw you as big as I see in you in old photographs now.. He too had become blind to my plight!
I was clinging on to life at the end of 2012 now I'm living it and loving it. Yeah I still have my sticks and the health issues, for now, but I am in a better condition to deal with them. Now that has got to be good :D.
To hear your OH say "I have got you back again" said it all really ... Loving my bypass xxxx

My OH was the same. That horrible portrait work photo he said that wasn't me. My daughter said the same. The eyes play tricks!

Thanks hun .. And yes they and the brain certainly do play tricks hun

Hi
You really are all so inspiring. I'm having my band in 2 weeks and hope very soon to join you in posting my success. Well done to you all xxxx

Thank you & Good luck sparklysue can't wait to hear those successes hun :) x

Having been there just ahead of you by about five weeks, I don't have sufficient words to say how I feel about your achievement Frankie. Staggering! You are a legend, along with Yve with Ceecie just behind. I also know from my experience how liberating losing a third of ones being is. Today I collected a size 14 bikini I'd ordered. It fits and I feel confident in it, but decided to keep the tankini top as it is more practical. Just need a holibob in the diary to wear it on ... I love my bypass!

I want to fly so I can stick one very unladylike finger up to those wretched belt extensions and play with the table :D

Lilac thank u ..but you are making me blush!
& a size 14 bikini wow hun. I'd settle for a 14 swimsuit ..one that hides the lumps n bumps :giggle:

Yes, yes, yes. The plane thing! Maybe the tray table will come down without me having to lift my stomach over it! I'm off to Valencia in four weeks so I'll find out! Just for a long weekend, with my Spanish language class. There is a beach ... But I don't somehow think it'll be the right 'occasion' for swimwear, not least as it is February. Need to pop to see my friend who lives in the UAE! Tho with my colouring the more skin I expose, the more I will have to spend on sun cream ... But I guess my surface area has decreased by a third ... Yes, that's what I'll do. Maybe early May when the temp will be in the low 50s ... *starts looking at flights* ;-)

It's freezing in the UAE - definitely not beach weather here now! My toes are like ice cubes! I can't wait for March and the warm weather. Where does your friend live, Dubai or AD?

Hahaha hun I couldn't even push it down past my boobs the last time! I'm looking at flights as well, despite the fact we have our cruise already booked :D. My friend keeps asking us over to Majorca.. Think I may just take her up on that offer :).

Well after months of denying myself smaller knickers.. What can I say my size 24's were safe & comfy :giggle: I had to finally admit defeat after they kept sliding down under my leggings last week
So a big result for me yesterday as I have now achieved the wonderous honour of M&S size 16 knickers!!!
Happily Gobsmacked :D

Pmsl...can't imagine what your larger undercrackers actually looked like! Size 16, marvellous - thinspirational Mrs!!!! xxx

Even I had to admit that my hips, as big as they are, just weren't keeping them up any more hehe. I'm a skinflint so I begrudged giving them up earlier when nobody but me and hubby saw them but even he was getting annoyed at them & me.

I love reading these. There's so much of a thrill and loveliness in the small things. It is the smile inducing moments that make the struggles worth it.

Size 16! Woo hooooo! Did you get a thong?! Hee hee! I can confidently say that no matter how small I get, I will always wear safety knickers ... But pretty one! Nothing in the world could persuade me to wear a cheese wire. I want pants built for comfort, not speed xx
