Looking great!! :)

Bmi chart is only a chart after all :) its all about how you feel! :) i am sure you will get to that healthy bmi if you set it as a goal and work towards it. But its only for you to decide your personal goals :)

Btw, remind us when did you have your surgery?

I've lost 13st 5lb and I'm still 'overweight'with a BMI of 25.2. It's stupid!!

It sure is lol just 1 more lb and I won't be overweight - the daft thing is its bothering me, so why didnt it bother me when my BMI was over 54!?!?!

You look amazing! BMI is a notoriously rubbish measurement anyway, it classifies elite athletes with dense muscle mass as overweight! You look fab & I bet you feel great too - I am 2 weeks 5 days post op so can only dream of achieving what you have x

You look absolutely fantastic and very slim. You are not over weight at all. BMI is not accurate, I think our bodies know the ideal weight we should settle onto and stay there. It is shame we would stress ourselves and not enjoy our new bodies just for a few kilos, pounds...

if it helps, check out this doctor's theory.
The Right Weight according to Dr. Jean-Michel Cohen

this makes more sense to me.

I've just used that tool Tules, it says my ideal weight based on the calculation is 155lbs...that means I've got to put on 52lbs!!!! I don't bleeding think so.....that's three and a half stone I've got to put on. That's a lot of kit Kat chunkys!!

Has anyone else done it

I looked at it but as I have no clue what my weight was at any of those given times (I was a serial scales dodger) its impossible for me to calculate

For me, I would stay at my current weight. I would be OK at my current weight.
I think what he was trying to say was some people can be perfectly happy at a different weight, this would be the weight their body feels most comfortable in.
Mine was 177pounds, way above high end of BMI

If you have lost 12st, then it's probably safe to say you have some loose skin? Hopefully not to much but I know from experience, we rarely get away with none when we have been the size we have been.

So, if you imagine you were to have a apronectomy tomorrow, how much skin do you think would be removed in terms of pounds? For me, it'll be about 7lbs.

Take that off your weight, and recalculate your bmi. I bet it is under 25.

So you have your scale weight, and your "seasonly adjusted" weight (to use the old government phrase for fiddling the unemployment figures). Is it really fair to include loose skin in the bmi calc? I don't think so.

What I'm saying is that you are under 25 on the bmi already. You are effectively standing on the scales with stuff in your pockets :)

Oh I understand where you are coming from even though I have very little loose skin, but even if I'd grown a 3rd leg the BMI chart still haunts me lol, I know its daft and illogical........... Just need to lose 1 more lb

I agree 100% with Serenity.

You have done a fantastic job hun. You look a normal weight. BMI is just a guideline and does not include excess skin from weight loss.

Hope you can drop that pound quickly so you can celebrate :)

I've set my target at 13st which is over 26 on the bmi. I will lose more than that, but 13st feels right for a bloke my build. It did bother me that I wouldn't be a "healthy" weight at one point but not now. I've been over 47on the bmi so it's all relative to me.

I decided that the bmi wouldn't decide for me when I was happy. I wish I could do the same for the scales!

Thats the daft thing when i was over 54 on the BMI scale ok I knew I was morbidly obese but I also knew the BMI chart was rubbish, so why the sudden turn around in my head?!?! This weight loss lark is a funny old game :) I bet as soon as I get to the "magical" BMI figure I will be onto my next obsession!

I think that is why I am trying to make 13st my target and then stop setting targets. I'll go lower but it's not my aim.

It's because I always set lower and lower targets that I feel like I've not had success yet. I'm 14st 3lbs this morning, and that is a huge success. But till I get to 13st, it won't feel it till I get there. At one point I'd set 11st 11lbs as my target. I would have felt like I'd not succeeded till I got there.

So, I guess what I'm saying is, don't set any further targets. You have already succeeded. You are slim now, and regardless of whether or not you drop more weight, you have done what you set out to do - lose 12st, get slim, get healthy. Anything beyond that point is just you enjoying life and not worrying about it.

Flickalicious

Bit of a weirdy! XD
Butterfly, I've been told off for being a 'normal' BMI. My dietitian wants me to GAIN weight now as it was never expected to drop this low. 12st 7lbs lost so far. I'm 10st 4lbs but at the top end of normal. 20 months out like you, it's crazy! xXx
