I have a weight watchers pedometer (in fact I have several as I brought a new one each time they updated) not sure if the fit bit is just an expensive pedometer I do like the fact that you can wear one of them round your wrist I have lost pedometers in the past when they were clipped to my trousers and it would appear that you can keep it on all the time, I often forgot to clip my pedometer on in the morning.. Still not sure, hope to get advise from people that are using them.

Wilb hunni i will be wearing mine at coffee time you can have a lookie :) it is an expensive gadget but wouldn't be without mine. If you have an app phone you can download free apps which do similar + myfitnesspal to log your intake. I have a fitbit one it clips to my bra. It logs every step i take, my sleep patterns........ i enter what i eat and my weight weekly. I know how much to eat - what exercise i do = loss at the end of the week. Of course its a considered purchase, not everyone rates them but i love it. The cheapest is the zip, which funnily enough fits to your zip LOL the one clips to your bra or the flex wears around your wrist............... some people have said the flex can pick up extra steps with wrist movement??? but i find my one pretty spot on. When i first got it i walked and counted at the same time and found it almost bang on to the step.
When i got mine it was i major expense whoch we cpuld barely afford, but its the best thing i've purchased......... I know if i ve lost it or it broke for whatever reason i would happily go back and part with my money again to replace it.

Get a varied view before you part with your pennies, there are others on the market. A pedometer would do just as well to count your steps coupled with myfitnesspal to input your food and output your exercise :)

Hope others reply too, there are several of us who have them. x x x x

Fitbit is amazing, but have discovered I'm only getting about 3 hrs sleep a night it would appear I'm very restless during the night no wonder I feel exhausted all day not sure how to overcome that. Logging all my food on fitness pal which appears to be a great tool and is synchronised to my fitbit. Didn't get out for my walk on the beach Saturday morning due to the birth of six little pups :)

Hi Willb, I have a Flex too, I've had it since just after the op. I haven't walked as much as I would have liked, but now I'm nearly back to strength after a recent operation, I'm trying to do much more. You can friend people on Fitbit and on My Fitness Pal, so you can see how you're doing against others. I like being able to see how much or how little sleep I get. Sometimes it can be a little difficult tapping the Flex to tell it you're going to sleep and waking up again, but if you forget, you can change the times online or on the app later.

If you're interested, my MFP username is Terrilou1975 and on Fitbit, its TerriLou or you can go to Fitbit-Profil.

Enjoy. :)

my sleep patterns were terrible pre op, i found it got better post op, then went thru a stage where it got worse again, that was when my hips hurt when laying on them lol but its gotten better again at mo. But it certainly explains being tired all the time eh :) hope the pups are doing well x x x

Can someone please tell me how to log my sleep with my Fitbit Flex?
I'm loving that is telling me I don't do enough steps yet, but would like to log my sleep too!
I am also logging all the calories I'm eating and burning and am finding it quite user friendly!
Glad I bought it but is expensive!

You need to send your fitbit to sleep when you go to bed by repeatedly tapping it until two dots show wide apart, then fade. To wake it up in the morning, tap it a lot again until 2 dots close together move from side to side.

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks Terrilou. That definitely helps. I did find how to set it manually also. It is interesting being able to chart the patterns, isn't it? :)

Yes it is Daphne. Its not 100% accurate for monitoring sleep as you can be awake, but stay still and fitbit won't see it, but some nights it shows me so restless and others don't show anything all night.

Hope you're getting on with it ok. I've just bought a new band for mine, the pink can't get any brighter, I love it! :)

Thanks Terrilou. I'm finding it very interesting to see hire many times a night I'm restless. Some bits are great ... others terrible. Now at least I know why I'm tired some days!
