What is meant by the honey moon period

Its only a guess, but I think people mean after having your WLS you could lose weight quite quicly and its going great , then you stall sometimes for days or even weeks then your body somehow gives itself a kick and the weight drops off or in some cases( not all) you could put a little on , for all kinds of reasons.
im sure others will pop up and add bits more

I interpret the honeymoon period to be the first 6-9 months post op. Loosing weight after this period can significantly drop as our body's become used to the reduced calories.

The honeymoon period is exactly what it states - the time when you and your op will skip along hand in hand - it will do what it says on the tin and shrink you and you will treat it like your one and only. And then as you get more familiar with it, it will start to slow your weight loss down as it adapts to what you've done and you will start to test its boundaries :) Rate of weight loss is exponential and depending on how much you have to lose and how amenable your body is to loosing it, your honeymoon period is between 3 and 9 months in my experience.

Thought this I'm 5 months out hitting a stall so I presume honey moon period over and the hard work begins thanks every one for their answer deb x

Stalls don't automatically mean that you're out of your honeymoon period - they can happen at any point in your journey.

Did not realise that had a bad week 2 really work been bad so eating really bad have pre planned for next week like you suggested so maby you Neva know must also try to fit in exercise don't get me wrong on my feet all day but I think you have to do something out of the ordinary to make a difference tks deb x

Eating the wrong things can cause a stall as can not drinking enough

I drnk 2 litres plus a day but just been having snacks as no time for a meal but have cooked and frozen so back on track tks

I have hit stalls every few weeks since my op. Have tried just about everything and my body doesn't drop till its ready to. Wonder how I will know when my honeymoon period is over? My stalls have lasted up to almost 3 weeks one time and that was in the first few months that happened.

Do you keep a record of your weightloss on a monthly basis? That will show it.

No worries hon. I used to do double figures in amonth and then it dropped to single figures etc, so when you notice that monthly total drop that's when the hard work will begin :/

At 5 months out I feel like I'm working for my weight loss now, no double figures a month. It has slowed dramatically

Upped the exercise meals been back on track thus week so see what Monday brings tried to get in 2-3 litres of nas drinks in deb x
