constant insatiable hunger following bypass

Hi,

I have had no response in the revision forum so trying on here.

I had my band removed and converted to a bypass in March 2014 due to endless problems with my band including one band reposition in 2010. Band was in in 2008. Since about 3 weeks after surgery I have been fighting extreme hunger. I mean absolutely insatiable! Not 'head hunger' I am hungry every couple of hours. I am able to eat quite a lot too without any problems. I am quite active and am at quite a low weight 9.9st. I was 13.4. Shaw Somers is my consultant and I am still being seen my the team in clinic including a dietician who I have discussed this hunger with. She just told me to eat more whole grain carbs which I do anyway but to have some with each meal or snack. This takes my daily calorie intake even higher of course. Just wondered if anyone else is/has experienced this? And does it ease off. Constant hunger was always my problem before surgery. It eased with band as was too painful to eat but now completly back with a vengeance. I have been know to cry out of frustration as I am so hungry and just don't understand why!!

Hi
I didnt want to read and run but sadly I cant really answer your questions seems your in a real pickle you really must go back to your team , maybe talk to a counsellor to dicuss what is behind this
wish I could help more
good luck with getting the help you need

Hi I had my band removed after lots of problems too I had a bypass and do get those feelings I eat five or six small meals and drink plenty too if I don't my fingers get so cold but do feel hungry quite a lot but have learned to live with it
I know it's not much help but stay strong and will be interested to what your team has to say
If I over eat I feel sick so I think that stops me in the long run

I find drinking tea helpful or half water and half milk coffee if I think it's head hunger , but at 9stone 9 are you at a healthy bmi now ? Do you need to lose more or is it about maintaining ? The dietician is best to advice you ,

I have the same constant hunger, for me it is a symptom of my stomach ulcer and excess stomach acid. Unfortunately they can't explain why I have it and the meds don't help. But acid medication might help you? Talk to your doctor

Could you actually just be hungry? Are you eating enough? If you're at goal how many calories are you eating in 24hrs?
