Oh I really know how you feel, I went Mr El-Hasani's waiting list in March 2011. I called his sec last week and was advised there was 80 in front of me, when I called just after Christmas I was told I was 90th, so it looks like he has only done 10 in 6/7 weeks!! surely this can't be right!!

I don't get it

I really hope you hear soon hun

thank you for your replies. sadly i can't get to chichester so i'll just have to wait. when i've phoned to see where i am on the list i have actually gone backwards in 3 months ?(this can't be right). i'll wait as i know the op will help but its frustrating when you see people behind me on the same waiting list being put into private hospitals. not having a pop, just upset

It's probably correct, as he only does a couple a week for the NHS, I did read somewhere that that are moving some of his NHS Patients to a private hospital to get the numbers down.

I had my first appointment with Mr.El Hasani in October 2010 and had my bypass on 6/2/12. I was also due to have my surgery at the PRUH but got the call to ask if I would go in Chelsfield instead ( I wasn't about to say no!!).
I was given to understand that he was doing the cases that have BMI's of under 45 at Chelsfield as they are deemed easier. I know he is getting through a lot of extra cases at the moment in order to cut his waiting list down.
Di, I think you should ring his secretary and ask why you have moved backwards on the list as that seems really awful and unfair. No wonder you were reading this thread in tears , I would be distraught! I hope you get it sorted out lovely.

When I spoke to his sec I was told my name has been sent over to his private list, but there are still 80 in front of me (my BMI is 49)

oh hay i really feel for you girls this dr seems to have a lot on his books and to be moved up ad down his list is totaly and utterly descusting no wonder you were in tears i would have also been. i kept on phoning evry week and even ased to be put on the cancelation list. Hold on in there dinnoo68 please dont talk of death your turn will come i promice you that i am as sure as day follows night. Maybee your local pals officer could help i know fuffs has just got a reply off them saying they have recived her e.mail and they are investergating her case i do hope this helps. xxxx

My doctors were really concerned with my health and wrote Hasani a letter asking for me to be bumped up his list 1 was 130th at the time and looking at a 2 year wait, he called for me to see him, and when i did he basically told me to stop wasting his time because there is no queue jumping or moving as he hasnt the power to do it. You just have to wait, he may be a good surgeon but he has the attitude and manners of a pig.

I didn't think he was that bad! When I sat on the chair outside theatre he took my by the hand and said "come with me my dear" and led me into theatre to the table!

Yeah same with me. I found him pretty stern when I first met him but he was lovely on the day of my op and afterwards when he came to see me. Xx

To be honest with you, EVERYONE who is on the list for WLS has health problems otherwise they wouldn't be having such a radical procedure. That's why he has such a long list. And, I personally didn't go there to make friends with the man, just wanted him to do my op!

El-Hasani seemed pleasent to me, I think he does about 10 operations a weekend, So he is always kept busy,

I didn't have any issues myself either, just heared a few complaints on various wls forums. No smoke without fire etc, or it could be over sensitive patients. He his renouned for doing a very very good job in surgery though, which at the end of the day is all that matters.
