Hi all

Ive come to a halt on weightloss!

I have been doing so well but this week....... nothing! :( I feel real down about it
Have I come to a plato (cant spell it)

I am 5 weeks post op from having a sleeve so last week started on puréed food however been eating broccolli and cauliflower and the odd muller light yogurt! still having my soups too...

Is this normal to approach a brick wall!

Any advice would be appreciated

Thank you

I'm pre-op at the moment and in exactly the same situation. I desperately need to lose a few pounds just to make sure I definitely under what I was in my first appointment. When under any normal situation, I could just knuckle down and lose a few pounds - Now I am trying really hard, nothing is happening!

Thanks for your reply Natasha just annoying isnt it when u try so hard but dont get results :( I hope it all works out for you soon.

Kaz,

It's perfectly normal - so please don't worry about it. My surgeon told me this would happen, he said you'll lose some then you may well flatten out for awhile before losing more and it can keep on going like this. Everyones body is different so it's hard to say what is going to happen, but I know that I will stop losing at somepoint for awhile and as I've been told about it I'm not bothered.

The way I look upon it is, I am no longer eating anywhere near as much as I did in the past. The amount of calories I am consuming is less than what I need to maintain my current weight, therefore, my weight will reduce. If it stops for awhile then it's just my body playing tricks and it wont last and the weight will start coming off.

So please don't worry - you wont stay like this and it will start coming off. Just don't let it get you down because you will win in the end.

All the best.

I agree with AE - no change there, then :D I also think that this heat isn't helping; although I'm drinking a lot, I seem to be retaining water and I feel very hot and bloated (all my rings are tight and I just feel sort of puffy). I've only lost a pound this week, so it's either an entirely predictable stall, which can and does happen and/or it's water retention. Either way - it will go in the end for us all and I'm just trying to be Zen about it and get on with life.

Hugs, K - it's hard, I know xx

Hi AE and Jozefina

Thank you for your replies and making feel a little better about this stall I'm having,
I am stuck on 13 and its doing my head in if it flicks over to 12 something I will smile :)

I was wondering if its because I'm eating more different stuff, I am having a craving at the moment of Broccoli and Cauliflower with a table spoon of onion gravy and a very small amount of grated cheese! (probably about 7 strips of grated) lol puréed up seasoned and have that for my lunches and dinners, also breakfast I have weetabix however cant manage a whole one only probably 1/4 of it.
My husbands says I should eat little and often but Iam sticking to breakfast, lunch, dinner, should I be having a little something in between these meals?

Thanks again for your kind words and reassuring me that this is normal, as stated was feeling dishearten because I have been thru all this and not getting results! but now I am feeling a little better now after reading your replies :D

Any ideas what else I can eat for meals? or what were you guys eating at 5 weeks post op?

Well, the three of us are all at 5 weeks post op, so we're likely all on similar regimes, based on whatever our providers suggest.

At first glance, I can't see a lot of protein in your daily plan? So that might be something to consider. Could you swap something protein based for your Weetabix? I posted a typical day for me on another thread, so I will C&P it on to this one. I do snack from time to time, but it's always protein based: usually Greek yog.

(Obvs, am no expert!!!) xx

Hi Jozafina
if you could c/p it onto here that would be great :D

Yeah just realised that us three are at the 5 weeks post op :D

OK, this is my current daily plan:

A typical day for me - I try to make sure every meal has protein and fibre:

B: Half a cafe au lait slimfast, served over ice, sprinkled with cinnamon. Or sometimes I've made a smoothie with a few frozen berries, Greek yog, milk and cinnamon. Very refreshing in the heat.
L: Usually something left over from dinner or a previous meal; I do find myself repeating meals a lot at the moment, due to portion sizes. Today I will have a ramekin sized portion of crab and avocado salad, mashed together with balsamic vineger and black pepper. This was also my L & D yesterday! Yesterday I had cottage cheese instead of crab.
D: Varies; I'm liking the Innocent veg pots a lot. One does me 3-4 portions and they of course contain plenty of fibre. I mix each portion with plain fat free Greek yoghurt to add protein. I've also made mini-omelettes with one egg and a grating of strong cheddar, or had a piece of fish in cheese sauce. I like fish, so have also had tinned tuna or crab or fresh smoked mackerel upon occasion. I'm not a huge meat eater, so haven't bothered trying to puree any of that.

For snacks, I have Greek yoghurt pots - I like the Danio fat free fruit ones, or the Muller Light Greek variant (these are good as the pots are smaller). If I want something savoury, I have a level teaspoon of smooth NAS organic peanut butter.

(All of the above is off my provider's suggested dietary plan, by the way).

<snip>

Hope that helps. Before the weather broke, I was also having protein intensive soups; either home made in the slow cooker or the Baxters "feel fuller longer" range which have more protein from ingredients like salmon and chicken. Will probably have soup again once it's not so hot!

I'm not consciously avoiding carbs, but just have what naturally occurs in fruit and veg. I haven't had bread, potatoes, rice, pasta or cereals at all, or anything sugary other than in the yoghurts.

Take care, xx

I agree with AE - no change there, then :D

Some people just know what's right :) I must be careful now I know what you do for a living!

To keep the mutual back slapping going, I agree with Jozefina with regards to food and what to eat although I'm not as imaginative I have tried to stick to [STRIKE]my[/STRIKE] our providers suggestions for meals.

In the first few weeks I was doing 6 meals, (and I use the term loosely here) a day purely to get the protein etc in. From liquidised soups, slim fast shakes, even Horlicks (which my gran used to love and I never thought I'd get there). Once I got onto the pureed stage which I admit I didn't like and struggled with a bit I started dropping the supper time drink or the mid morning snack.

Last time I saw "our" fabulous surgeon he told me that I should be aiming for 3 meals a day so that I don't get in the habit of having more than that a day. If I feel the need for a snack now it's going to be pretty neutral - frozen yoghurt is nice this time of year. I'm not the biggest meat eater but have been having a bit more recently - how many things can you do with mince - a lot more than you'd think :) Like Jozefina says, mini omelette, fish in sauce, muller light yoghurts are all good. I tend to go for something like Oats so Simple or Weetabix for breakfast for a bit of fibre. This morning I pushed the boat out and had a cold muller rice for breakfast which tasted really nice and frozen berries in smoothies are also good.

All the best.

AE.

With the sleeve you have to follow the instructions given in order to achieve maximum weight loss..I've learnt too well from not following the rules and have regained all the weight loss and some.. All the best with your weight loss.. I'm sure you will be fine..
