Contraception & Surgery

I'm on a roll today, I have so many questions on my mind.

I'm currently on the pill (pre op), totally love it had 2 episodes in the last 2 years. I have been told after surgery the pill isn't so effective. Is this true, what are your experiences? I really didn't want the coil again, but is this my only option?

My nurse did warn that the pill might be less effective in some cases and that i should keep that in mind.

Im on yasmin pill, i started taking it again a few days after my sleeve as recommended.

I havent been told about it being less effective, maybe with a bypass you might get less absorption.
Hell getting pregnant would be my worst nightmare..so fingers crossed it still works fine.

Yes i dont think the pill is anyway affected if you had your sleeve. I had bypass.

One of the things i stumbled across while researching the options was saying exactly what everyone else has mentioned! It may be less effective due to absorption issues with a bypass xx

Ohhhhh, ok.

I said to the dietician, once/if I get a date I will then discuss with my GP. I'm currently on Cerazette and don't have a period and this is bliss. However, I DONT WANT NO MORE BABIES lol

Hi

I am also on Cerazette (so love never having a period!!) lol. I had a bypass on 22nd sept and so far everything has been as normal! Thank god. As it is a mini pill it was ok to take straight after my surgery.

X

Deffo good to hear, that was going to be a question of mine when i next saw the dietician. Don't want any accidental babies!

I'm pre op and have the implant in my arm. From what I gather this is a recommended type of contraceptive as it's in you bloody stream rather than a pill that may not absorb. I've had it for 4 years now and it's fab, get a period every 3 months and no scares!!!!

Accidental babies would be a complete nightmare for me. I was baby sitting Friday, omg I forgot how much hard work they are. This lil baby is crawling and climbing of stuff, turn round and he's gone.

So whatever I take really, really needs to work lol

Once I get a date, I will discuss with my Dr. Do you put on weight with the implant?

i'm on cerazette, was years before bypass surgery, and 2 years plus later, still on it... n no baba, i did ask if it was ok to still take and they said it was
