Devastating endoscopy!

Hi Everyone
I have just had my endoscopy at Sunderland and feel like I have been so naive! I have never ever had any signs of reflux, stomach ache, heartburn or anything. Endoscopy was a disaster, could not get vein so therefore no sedation and he took ages. My stomach is very red and inflamed apparently and I have polyps or growths which he then biopsied. Felt everything. I just don't know what to think. The nurses could tell me nothing! I have to wait results of biopsies and then be re endoscoped in 6 weeks. Feeling really upset.

Has anyone else had this?
Jackie

Hi I had endoscopy and they found out I had a inflamed stomach and a hiatus hernia not the same as you. I had mine without sedation as well its nasty as you feel like your gonna choke. I'm sure the results will be good for you.

Hi
Thanks for your reply. What did they do? Have you had surgery? X

Hi Jackie

I didn't have an endoscopy as part of my pre op so I cannot offer any insight with that. I just wanted to say sorry to hear you had a tough time and I hope they resolve your issue asap so you can progress x

An endoscopy really isn't a pleasant experience, especially without sedation that's for sure. As far as I understand they always take a biopsy, that's what the nurse told me at mine so try not to worry about it.
Bit of a bummer you have to have another one but try not to worry and look at the positive side of things, whatever is going on they'll get you sorted.
Chin up chuck x

If there are polyps they will always biopsy, and the results take about 7 days to come back. It will be part of a clinical protocol, not necessarily bad news but there will be a wait.....unfortunately

Had a phone call from the hospital today. The biopsy results are back and I am so pleased to say that I have been told not to worry. My case however has been referred back to MDT to discuss a 'change of path' whatever that may mean! I am so relieved though, have to say when you are told that they have found growths and have took biopsies, then to be told I have nothing now to worry bout is like winning the lottery! The past few days have been the hardest in my life! :):):):):):):):)

Aww bless you hun, must've been terrible but at least you now know it's nothing sinister. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for a response from the new mdt.
