Hi Guys well the weight is moving very well 3 1/2 stone in 3 months but my hair has stopped growing and its starting to fall out i have been on zinc for weeks so i know it isnt that. my hair normally grows really quickly but i dyed it before xmas and still have no roots showing so i know im not being paranoid plus everytime i brush or straighten it out it comes ive done so well with my recovery cant bear to lose my hair now. :((( so guys any suggestions as to what i am lacking so i can stop this horrid hairloss thank you

hair loss is common with rapid weight loss, but try not to worry, you wont go bald. Its just a thinning and your hair will start to grow again once your body has realised what is going on.

I seem to be having the opposite, my hair is growing like mad. I even have to shave my legs much more often (sorry lads lol)...I can only presume its because of the vitamins and minerals or maybe its because of years of not sleeping well I am not sleeping much better....I dont know but I also sometimes think its the calm before the storm. I did speak to Mr Ammori about it prior to surgery as no one wants to loose their hair and he said it stops after 6-9 months. If it helps I work with a woman who is so thin she really looks awful, her skin is terrible and how her bones dont snap I dont know. She hardly ever eats. She came to me last night asking for advice on what to eat as her hair is coming out in the handfuls. I told her straight she needed to eat more and to get some protein in her. Her idea of a meal is a plate for of sliced peppers. Hopefully the fear of her losing her hair will push her to eat more. So try not to worry and I am sure your hair loss will stop soon...((hug))...xx

oh great im hairy enough as a woman lol without it getting worse everywhere you dont want it lol im sure i am just lacking in some vitamin or other will keep you all posted if i find out exactly how to treat it good luck with your hair problem chick

Hi hun. I am now 3 months out and my hair has stopped growing and started to thin. I take zinc & selenium daily to help re-growth. I have also notice less need to shave my legs & pluck my eyebrows. This has happened to me before with rapid weight loss & I can testify that you will not go bald or even really have any bald spots just a thinner overall appearance. It only lasts for a few months like CG said so don't worry. Make sure you get enough protein daily (it is what feeds nails & hair folicles), try getting in 'good fats' (fish, avacado, nuts or omega 3 supplements & flax oil) and stay away from things that are harsh on the hair like frequent hair dye (go as long as you can between treatments or use low-peroxide rinses), curling irons, straighteners & very hot hair dryers.

You should see improvement in just a few months so don't panic.

Nic;)

hunnie thank you i will get more supplements i think it scant hurt can it im already taking a mountain of them in a morning lol hope your weight loss is doing ok and you are well

I am doing really well hun. I feel great and I have more energy & well being than I have had in ages and ages. Hope your weight loss is moving along and you are enjoying your new thinner life!:):):)

yes i am im now down to a size 20 and i look much better and feel better too i have no regrets none at all there is no diet that would have lost me 3 1/2 stone on 3 months

What they said!! Same thing happening with me, definite thinning but I know it was expected & is short-term (bothers hubby more than me in the bathroom!)

Hi i posted on here some time back about hair loss. mine started at about 4-5 months post op ans was coming out in clumps. i tried the zinc and selanaise but it didn't seem to help. i have to say over the last few weeks it has stopped coming out and is growing well again. have lots of baby fluff growing in so it's def sorted itself out! hope yours settles down soon x
