Hi I'm about to have mini bypass on the 14of October in leharve is there anyone that has had this op traveling on ferry from portmouth to leharve. I was wondering how was the journey back? Was driving the car ok? And what was the pain like, post op?

Hi

I haven't any experience on this but it's unlikely you will be 'cleared' to drive so soon. Some insurers say you are not covered until you can brake safely, others have a time limit.

Agreed - I wasn't allowed to drive for a couple of weeks. This is major surgery! And as the time went by post op, I became weaker and weaker over that time due to the lack of nutrition and my body being in ketosis. It was hard ...

Sorry it's off topic but are you having ur op with dr bb?

I'm flying to France the week before to have a bypass in le harve

I'm trying to find people who have had a good experience with him.

A month to go for my mgb in le harve.can anyone who's had this type of OP give me they're experiences.i.e the pain, how successful was the op,what was travelling back like?:confused:appreciate any info at this stage.:welcome:

Hi I had the mgb 23rd April in Le Havre France and I have lost 6 stone. I have good restriction, I didn't have much pain after and the op was very straight forward. I went to Le Havre on my own and on the Friday my husband got a ferry to the hotel and on Saturday we went back on the ferry. I didn't carry anything but was comfortable. I now suffer from severe acid which has taken me to hospital and I spent 2 nights in there but I take a tablet to keep that at bay. Other than that I have not had any problems it was def the best decision. The after diet is terrible which the give you so I just had 2 weeks on mashed down and very soft foods and just took it slow.

Thx,most of what you said was what I needed to hear.it was the acid and two days in hos that was sour grapes.i have read about this(bile reflux) as a big down side to mgb.did they treat you in hos with solely tablets & if so which ones were they & are you on these permanently?as I'll mention them to my dr to try and prepare myself beforehand.did you pay for ins with people who did the op as they are stressing to me to take it out & that it ll cover me for the next 12month.or don't you really need it?when you arrived in le havre &have your condemned mans(woman's)breakfast at the hotel, how long did it take for them to see you as I'm hoping I can get some shut eye as I won't sleep on the ferry & I'll be dead to the world if they come banging on my door at 10am after arriving at 8am & still digesting a French bakers ransom in croissants???(well, you got to get the strength to make up for the next two weeks on Gerbers).lastly was wifi permitted in hos room?
