Hi Everyone,

I am so glad I came across this post. I am a 25 year old girl that is going to get banned on tuesday in belgium with Dr. Chris De Bruyene.

I am going by myself. Only 2 of my friends know that I am getting it done and Im telling my parents that I am going to London to visit friends for a few days. I am pretty scared.

I am 5 foot 9 or 10 inches. And Im about 107 kgs.

I am just wondering if anyone has had theirs done with Dr. Chris De Bruyne?

I am on this site for a bit of moral support as I feel very lonely doing this by myself.

Thanks!

Hi, I got banded with Dr Chris De Bruyne earlier this year. It is all highly organised and easy, you will be fine. If you want to know anything particular just ask. Good luck for your op.

Hi...I had an MGB with him 4 weeks ago!... Everyone is very nice and efficient!.. You will be just fine! You will probably be staying in the Lodge hotel which is lovely and hopefully will meet someone else walking over to the hospital at 7AM. Once your there everything is like clock work!.... Very best of luck with it and let us know how you get on!

Jan where did you fly from?

Im in Nottingham Gweni so I flew from East Midlands airport!.... Only took 55 mins. They do collect people from other airports I think as our taxi driver was going to a different airport further away to get his next patent. I guess it's best to check with them if you need to land elsewhere. :)

Hi I had my gastic band fitted by Dr Chris in Sept. Getting my first fill next week.
You will be well looked after by his team and the hotel (the Lodge) is lovely too and staff are very nice. Good luck with your journey. :) x

Thanks everyone for your lovely messages.

The op with Dr.Chris De Bruyene went really well. The only thing I would fault were the nurses. I asked for intermittent pain relief between tablets, so I was told that wouldn't be a problem but the nurses refused. I rang my bell to ask again as I was in such pain and an angry nurse came in and told me not to bother them. I also asked to go to the toilet. They gave me a bed pan, I was unable to use it. But was told I can't use the toilet in the bathroom. I suppose fair enough but when I really needed to go and said I would take my chances, the nurses still refused. I never saw a nurse once use a glove, so that's pretty bad.
I am a nurse and would never dream of doing these things especially to a young girl with no one with her for support.

My god the shoulder pain for the following week was the worst pain of it all. I didn't know what it was until I googled it.

It was a pretty sad time for me when I got back to Ireland. I told my mum I had a stomach bug and just stayed in my room for 2 days. I still haven't told her yet. I'm afraid that the band isn't going to work and I will be the fool spending all my savings and putting my self at risk like that.

So my op was on the 28th of October.
My weight pre op- 110kgs
At op- 107 kHz
Now 103 kgs

I'm only having my first fill this Friday in Dublin. Because of the holidays it was hard to get an appointment booked.

Fingers crossed for me.
