I'm finally been accepted for surgery and have my appointment to meet the surgeon in two weeks at kings college. Hopefully after that it won't be too long until I have my gastric band fitted. Anyone out there have any idea how long you have to wait until surgery ?

I weigh about 19 stone and would like to lose at least 7 stone. Anyone Else waiting for surgery

Welcome to the site. I have my first appointment at Kings college on 15th January. From the first appointment with them how long did it take you to get to where you are now. Good luck with the band. I weigh about the same as you and am hoping for a sleeve.

Hiello it's good to chat to someone else from Kings. As long as you've seen the dietician it can take about 10 months. After the group session you do blood and sleep tests then you have to wait for your case to be decided on. Then you meet the surgeon. Your a few months behind me. I know how you feel you just want it done and over. They recommended me for the sleeve but I thought I'd go for the band because it is reversible and you have a bit more control over it. I too was under Guys&StThomas until after my MDT in June this year , then transferred to Kings , I had a meeting with surgeon in August and then Listed for surgery early September , had endoscopy and group meeting for pre and pist op diet info beginning of October , heard nothing at all after that until Friday 5th December , I got a call asking me to have surgery for sleeve on 17 th December , I am still in shock as thought I would have more than 12 days notice , anyway pleased and can't wait to get it done now , good luck and hope your wait us not to much longer ,

Hi Dedlam am only a few weeks before you my appointment with the surgeon is on Thursday. I think it's a big waiting game we play throughout the whole process. I will definitely be asking the surgeon about how long it might take. I will let you know how I get on.

It was my long awaited appt today - I met the surgeon today at Kings, well his assistant. They took more bloods and booked the endoscopy. Ive been told it can take 6 months for the operation. I did want the band but they are recommending the sleeve. I'm worried about loosing too much weight and having loose skin I thought that if I had the band I could control the wiehgt loss. What does anybody recommend???
