Hi all!

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a 42 year old man from Stoke on Trent. I'm having a gastric bypass on Saturday 21st February 2015 all being well. My op date has been changed a few times! Feeling nervous but also excited to hopefully see a big transformation in myself.

Thanks everyone. I'm quite calm at the moment. Hoping I stay this way for as long as I can! My surgeon is Miss Rotundo at what's now known as Royal Stoke Hospital. She's really nice and friendly and hopefully a master at her craft lol!!

Well, I'm here waiting to be taken for surgery. Miss Rotundo came to see me and the chap who'll make me go bye byes! Miss Rotundo wrote a nice list of potential problems I could have during or post surgery . Bit of a " what in earth am I doing here" moment!
I'm not going in until midday apparently so just sat here waiting. Thanks again everyone for being so welcoming!

Well everyone I've made it through the surgery and I'm on the ward. Got a very sore throat presumably from the tube in my mouth. Otherwise not too bad. Bit groggy. Will update when I'm more able!

I'm sore but apart from that not bad considering. Here's hoping it stays that way!

Hi Lady Di, it went very well actually thank you for asking. I got to the hospital at 7.30am and saw Miss Rotundo at about 8.30. She confirmed with me which procedure I was having and we went through the list of possible complications. Then I signed my life over to her for the next few hours!
She said they would come and get me about 12pm so I had to sit around in my lovely stockings and gowns. It went quite quickly really cause I had my own room so just played on my phone.
At about 11.45am they came for me. I was wheeled down on a bed to the theatres and then into a small room to put my lines in etc!

Everyone was really nice and friendly and kept chatting to me to calm my nerves. After a few false starts finding a vein they wheeled me into theatre. They inflated the bed mattress thingy I was on and slid me onto the operation table! After a few adjustments and Miss Rotundo filling a form confirming my fate the anaesthetist told me i would feel a tingley sensation. Then that was it I was out for the count!
Next thing I remember I was waking up in the recovery ward. It's a very disconcerting feeling coming round afterwards!
One thing that had been stressing me out was the thought of having to have a catheter! Imagine my relief to find that when I woke up there was no catheter!!
