Prof Ammori at Roding Spire is one of the consultants and hospitals I'm considering. What did you think of it Tules?

Kat.30, hope it all goes really well for you :)

He bypassed me last Tuesday, I've had an excellent recovery and good news he didn't use staples used dissolvable stitches.

Zooples, he has just started at Riding and in fact I was his 1st patient there. Most staff did not know him but liked him anyway.
I had the Sunday difficult but am at home now and did not need pain killers today for example. Hospital staff were very kind and caring. I had a room with a bathroom, had shower on Monday morning. I cannot fault the staff.
Prof Ammori and his anesthesist met me prior to surgery. Prof also checked on me on Sunday.
All in all, good care.

Hi Kat, good luck with your surgery. I believe he has a good team there.

Tina, so pleased you are recovering well. How is your liquid diet going? Can you drink recommended amount?

Thank you Tules, sounds like you've had a good experience with Prof Ammori at Roding and a smooth recovery so far. Hope you soon feel 100% and enjoy the weight dropping off :)

Doing well thanks Tules, drinking about 2l + a day, smoothies, soup, milk, tea, nas vim to, and sf jellies. Seem to spend all day drinking!!! Went to gp's today and got all that prof Ammori asked for on prescription.

How are you getting along Tules?

I have to start measuring how much I drink. First few days, happy to drink without being sick - like I did a day after surgery.
But....
I am feeling hungry. When does that lack ghrelin stuff happen?
I had squash, soup, Lighter life soup, milk with little bit of coffee today.
Have you tried any protein yet? I got plain and strawberry flavour ones but have not dared trying yet. Do you think we need to start 60great protein a day at liquid stage?

My dietician didn't want me to use protein shakes in her words" it's only a fortnight"
I decided to ignore her and feel that I need protein to heal!! I have a team sky smoothie in a morning 26g and in an evening I make "hot chocolate" unsweetened almond milk with syntrack nectar chocolate truffle, zero carbs and zero sugar. Whisk together and nuke! Between them and soup I'm having about 60g a day of protein!
I'm managing to drink loads and had a full tin of soup this afternoon over a couple of hours!

I hope the purée stage is as easy!

To measure I fill 500ml water bottles up with nas vim to, I know my mugs are 200ml.

I take a bottle to bed with me so if I am up in the night or wake early I start drinking.

Take care and let me know how you are getting on!!

Thanks for the tips Tina. I tried the whey protein for the first time today. Mixed with milk, cinnamon and honey. Tasted OK so got 30gram in but have to try your method to increase intake. You are right, protein helps healing and also prevents muscle loss, apparently.
What soups do you have?
I am going to a local cafe tomorrow - feel weak but my husband thinks some fresh air will do me good. Will try soup out. I am looking forward to having bit more substance - roll on two weeks.

I've been going out most days, nothing too exciting went round Lidel with my mother today, tomorrow having my eyebrows done!! Can't wait till Friday when I can drive!!

Hi All I am with Dr Ammori's team at Salford Royal, but I can't for the life of me remember my surgeons name, I am having my bypass on 30th March, just waiting for my conformation letter with all the details of who, what time, and what I need to bring. Excited and nervous all at the same time very weird feeling.

Sorry can't help as I went to Spire Cheshire but good luck. Everyone feels nervous before hand, I had a wobble just as I was going to theatre!!!

I was sleeved by Professor Ammori in August on the NHS at Salford Royal. I only met him at my pre-op appointment, but the op went extremely well, and I've recovered and moved on. I highly recommend him!
