Hello all, just introducing myself to everyone...I'm Stevie, Mum of four gorgeous babies, (yes mum, am I girl, it's short for Stephanie) I'm 33 , from liverpool and totally sick of being a fat lardy bum so have got myself a gastric band! Steered at 16.11 and hoping to get to 9.9 which is apparently about right for me at 5'3".

Had my op on sat so am 5 days post op and WOW am I shocked at how much more difficult it has been than advertised. Had my op at Dolan Park, who didn't quite 100% hot my expectations of private medical treatment but maybe that's my high expectations.

Looking forward to shrinking on here along with y'all!

Hello everyone, thank you for your replies.

Regarding Dolan park I was happy with their care, just maybe not their organisation skills. I was told to arrive at 10 am and was not operated on u til 5.30pm. All day nil by mouth sat in a stuffy private room BOOOOOORED!! Then I found out that a was 3rd on the operation list and should've been done at 12ish!!

The rep who I saw pre op gave the impression that I would be cartwheeling around the room the day after...you will not. The pain is unbelievable. Exactly like being stabbed 5 times and then doing a million sit ups! (Funny that!)

Four days post open an incision popped open (not enough glue) and I had to go to a&e to be steri stripped. Got a huge fright!

Despite all this I do think it will be the best decision I have made, just would have preferred to have been a bit more forewarned so as to be forearmed!

OMG Stevie you have had a nightmare start, not good at all. Hope you feel much better now?! I'm going back to work on the 6th day post op so hopefully I'll be over the worst! From what I'm told surgery starts at 1.30pm on the day I'm in so Hoping I'm first, got a 5-6 hour journey the next day to get home which will be fun. Good luck with your weight loss keep us posted, I'll let you know how I get on too. Skinny here we come xx

Hi everyone, feeling much brighter today, only real pain now is the pulling sensation around the port area which is still strong (can't bend down to pick things up or lift etc)

Have an appt tomorrow at Rodney street to check all my wounds particularly the one that came open, am going to ask if I can maybe start so the soft foods soon, I'm ravenous and all the liquids are having an undesirable effect on the old toilet activities!! can't stray far from home!! Haha!

I spoke to a fabulous lady on Friday who hit the roof at the fact that I was forced into an a&e walk in. She assured me that my experience so far is NOT representative of the hospital groups aftercare standards ... We shall see.

xx
