Hi there just wanted to share my journey & timescale with you guys. I first went to my gp at 19 to be referred for gastric surgery, I was denied.
At 27 I went back again this time they referred me to Aintree hospital weight management service, it didn't take long at all to get my first appointment with them and I've now been going there for 11 months & started off by seeing my consultant who has been fantastic, I asked straight out what happens next & he told me there and them I would have to be with them at least 12 months. I saw the dietician and psychiatrist on the same day.. I didn't have a particular target they just wanted to see any form of weight loss. I attended an education session and support group and my last appointment was July 8th 2015 I had lost 9.4kg! I have been approved for surgery and was told that my pre op would be on 11th September. I was so excited but also scared and nervous. :)

I've now received a letter today saying my pre-op is now on the 23rd of October! By the time I attend the appointment I will have been waiting 16 weeks just to see the surgeon! I feel like I'm taking 1 step forward and 100 steps back! I'm in tears writing this I've been waiting so long for this. I just feel like it's never going to happen :( .

Sorry for such a long post I just wanted to share.
Any advice is greatly appreciated xx

Hi Hailey, I'm also at Aintree had my op 14th September, when you go for your pre-op they should give you your date so you haven't got long to wait, I think my op was 3 weeks after my pre-op,
good luck hun.

Thanks Hun. I got my date at pre-op I'm there in 5 days :) how did you fin the Sefton suite? What did you & and which surgeon Hun xx

hi i had my pre op on the 14th sept at aintree , we were told to expect the end of oct but i guess i was just lucky as when i got to the anethastist he told me he had a cancellation and i was getting done on the 29th sept , i nearly fainted haha , when i went for my op there were 3 of us from the pre op session getting done that day , we were in the sefton suite and it was fine, the care i was given was great and i only had to ask and whatever i needed they did for me , was discharged after 2 nights with all my meds and have recieved a call today from kath (dietition) checking how i am , still abit sore but only to be expected really she said it can take around 3 weeks for the pain to subside , good luck you wont have much longer to wait and it will be worth it.

Aww the Sefton suite are being fab, all the nurses are so nice. My op was ment to be on the 20th oct but they rang and they had a space on the 6th! X

Kinda wishing that I could of had the choice to have mine done at aintree but couldn't, had my seminar there but having my op done at Salford, pre op done 4th sept but still waiting for a date yet!

 I've just received a letter from the appointments stating that my pre op and consultant appointment has now been changed from 29th January 16 to End of April 16. I'm so upset about this. I've got myself all worked up to move forward and finally have surgery :mad:
