Hi I have been following this forum for over a year now , I thought it was about time I started a post as I have completed all assessments and seen psycholigist and now have an appointment with surgeon on 11 sept. I have struggled with my weight for over 20 years in fact since I first fell pregnant , and gone up and down adding a little more each time . I did want Rny bypass but very confused at the moment , hopefully all will become clear when I speak to surgeon , I live in the south east and my surgery will be at Guys Hospital .

A very warm welcome Just hunni :) really pleased to took the plunge to post, everyone is lovely and friendly and very knowledgeable. I wish you all the very best for your appointment, speak to the experts ................after all they know best :) try and research all you can too, and this is the place to be :) x x x x welcome again

Hello Just, welcome !

Hello and welcome. As Crystal says - do as much research as you can and ask yourself what changes you need to make the various options work - and whether you are prepared to make the changes. This is particularly important when choosing between band and bypass. These are only tools - you are the most important element in wls.

Hello and welcome . Are you close to a support group ? I found it so helpful , and I wish I attended before WLS , but I was too physically poorly . .

I don't know if any support group locally, I live near eastbourne but I am under Guys London , also I don't know anyone personally who has had surgery , I seem to spend hours reading stories on this forum and googling info , now thinking about sleeve as I am so worried about malabsorption and hair loss as I have really fine hair anyway , does anyone know of any support groups along sussex coast area thanks .

Hi and welcome and good luck to you xx

Hi can anyone help me , I have seen the psychologist and they have said I am ok for surgery, next week I have an appointment at the general surgery clinic at kings hospital , do you think that I will get a date from this visit or is it just part of the journey any thoughts would be appreciated ,

Hi Just,

Welcome to the forum - i hope you will find it interesting. It may be a little out of your way, but there is a group that meets in East Grinstead every month. You are welcome to join that for support. Have a look under the Support Groups section and see if there is anything more local to you too.

Hi, welcome and good luck with the journey

Thanks so much for all the support, and thanks for the info on the group in East Grinstead I will have a look

Eventually got a date for surgery 17th December,
Pre op started today, really excited , it's my birthday tomorrow going to be different not centred around food and cake for a change!!!!

Oh so disappointed surgery for today was cancelled no bed !! I was so focused and doing really well on pre op diet , called this morning to see if I could find out when they would re-book for but told they did not know, I do hope I can keep focused and not go mad with all the Xmas food about .

Oh thats a bummer, don't get disheartened though, it does happen. try and keep your mind focussed on the end goal, it will happen at some point, this is just a little hiccup. I understand how disappointed you must be ( I was cancelled last year the day before mine) and there are loads of stories on here of people who have been cancelled too. just keep ringing them each week, till they give you a date, pester them enough and they will reschedule it asap. thinking of you though as I know you must be feeling gutted. x x

Bad luck don't let it get you down. Stay focused and know that it will happen soon. Let us know how you get on
