Gastric or Spatz balloon

Hi, I'm a newbie and wondered if there's any advice on gastric balloons as I'm seriously considering having one fitted.

I thought I wanted a band but now I have the money and started to really look into it, I think a balloon would be more suitable for me.
Is there anyone out there that has or had a ballon? I understand that they can stay in for 12 months now.

Hello,
ive read about those ballons on here I forget her name but she had a ballon for a few months ( dont think as long as a year tbh) if I recall correctly weight did come off but the downsise was food tasted funny and she said she could sometimes"feel" it in her tummy
have a look in the threads sections there might be a section on the ballons
good luck

They are usually used for people who need to lose weight so they can have weight loss surgery safely under anaesthetic, reducng health risks. However, my friend only needs to lose about 3 to 4 stone and has had one, She is losing weight. Whilst the balloon is in, the person has to use the time to re-educate themselves re lifestyle, food and eating or the risk is it all and more goes back on.
she thought she was going to get really intensive lifecoaching type therapy to help, but it's turning out to be little more than a quick phone call asking how she is doing. My advice, do your research well and if you think you can change, it may work, if you are a foodie, an overeater for many years, the bad habits might just creep back. I started off thinking of a band, but after intensive research and a lot from people on here, I went for the MGB, as I know I am weak willed when it comes to food. This forces reduced portion size and reduces absorbtion of fats n sugars so was the op for me. Also, everything is still in my body, no stomach thrown away, just re plumbed
Good luck, research well x
