Hi everyone,
I took the plunge and had a Spatz balloon inserted on the 2nd October 2014. I am in Australia Sydney.
Let's say the firsts 5 days were a little uncomfortable. I would not say I was in pain but was just very uncomfortable. Was hard to sleep on my right side but the left side was fine.
In regards to feeling hungry I can say I did not feel like eating for about 5 days. I did however really want a big glass of cold water.
It has been 8 days now and I have lost 9kg.
My goal is to loss around 40-45kg over the 12 months. Back to work tomorrow and also back to the gym.
Would be nice to chat to someone in Australia who is going through this also.
Thanks

Hello and welcome!
Im sure someone from your part of the world will swing by soon
good luck in all you wish for

Hello,

I had mine put in 4 days ago, & yes it is the discomfort I have not any pain. Although the acid reflux is driving me insane.

In 4 days I have lost 2.7kilos which is a real mental boost.

I can sleep on my right & left side but am struggling on my front & back, hoping that will settle soon.

Good luck with your goal, :)

Hi Bellini,
I had the same issue, my mother have me some quick eze chewy Lillie's and they helped a little. When I went back to the gp a week later he gave me some additional nexium to take at night for 1 week only to try and settle the stomach acids.
My doctor has given me 40mg nexium to take every morning that my balloon is in place. This works for me.
Plenty of water also helps, but room temp water as cold will sometimes cause your stomach to cramp.

It gets better.

I'm just thinking of the final result and also how much it cost me.

Thank you for the advice re cold water, I have been drinking ice cold drinks, so I shall change that as of today.

I have the morning tablet to take so if it carries on I shall see if I can get a nighttime one.

I know I am only a few days in but yes I am focusing on the end result, I figure a bit or heartburn & acid reflux is a small price to pay, although I say it now at the start I suspect in a couple of months I will be crazy over it, although I hope to have it under control by then.

My reflux has subsided so it's just a matter of time. Mine now only plays up if I eat to much.
I'm about 5 days ahead of you so I'm here if you have any questions.
My dietitian told me to avoid crunchy food for another week but I am getting over all this soft foods which seem to be a lot of carbs. I am looking forward to a nice crunch salad.

10kg down, 30 to 35kg more to go.
One day at a time.

Any food suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I have a list of what to avoid but i'm struggling to think of anything other than soups, juicing, & yoghurt at the moment.

Thank you

You should try jelly. Once you feel you can start eating more try scrambled eggs or poached eggs. I also started on weetbix softened with warm water and a little milk.
Then you can start on mince, mashed potato, pumpkin, sweet potato.
These are what I found really easy to handle.

I'm right at this moment sat waiting to go on & have it removed. Really not agreed with me. I'm sad about it but the Dr & I discussed and agreed it was for the best it is taken out.
