Tummy tuck postponed

I have just signed up after reading through this forum for some time, so firstly I wanted to say hi.

I just wondered whether anyone else has had a similar experience as me.

My TT was booked in for 2nd April but I received a letter to say it had been cancelled and would need to be rearranged approx a fortnight prior.

I called and was told I would be looking at June. Although I am appreciative, I was devastated after sorting things with work, training etc and after care but mostly psyching myself up.

I now have a new date of 16th April :) I am trying hard not to get my hopes up as much as before because I am worried it will happen again.

Has anyone else had theirs postponed more than once?

i work in a hospital and unfortunately this does happen sometimes, it could be because your surgeon may have been asked to go and help another surgeon with a more complicated case ( cancer case reconstruction as a example), i have known patients to be cancelled on the day ifnot a couplr of hours before surgery because there are simply not enough beds .

at least you have a date and hope it all goes well for you,

Thank you, in really pleased but so anxious because I've wanted this for so long, it feels too good to be true. Best of luck in saving for your plastics. I hope some luck comes your way to help I.e. a lottery win :) but 2016 will soon be here, time flies eh?

Hi Natclaire33, I thought that might be the case and felt terrible/guilty feeling disappointed at the time. I'm just anxious now and it still feels too good to be true. Its 11 days away and every time the phone goes I think it will be them telling me it will be postponed again lol.

I have a couple of special family events in May and it would be the most perfect timing if I could have this done now so I'm extremely anxious... and 100% grateful!! :)

I've just been told my admission has changed from 7:30 to 11:00 so fingers crossed. Still convinced it'll be cancelled / in denial it'll happen :(

Well I will keep everything crossed for you. I rung the hospital the other day and they asked if I wanted to go on the list for short term notice places so of someone can't go in they can call me at short notice. Not holding out that anything will come of it but it's worth a try.

Perfect Stevie, that is great news. Hopefully that call has bumped you right up the wait list. I will remember that if ever I need anything in future.
I think you will have a date in no time. Mine was a cancellation.

It seems silly that they don't ask you that question when I saw the surgeon. I am hoping it has and with it getting to the warmer weather hopefully people will have holidays booked meaning they can't go when offer then I can step in. How much notice did they give you on yours.

You excited it's nearly hear. I hope it don't get cancelled again for your sake.

I'm still waiting for a date, I reckon I am going to be one of the few that don't get seen before my time I was quoted. They always say that Neil toft has a long waiting list and quote me August September time.

Hi Stevie, I was told my Dr had a long wait list too. 10 months from December 2013 in fact and completely out the blue got the 2nd April appt then this one came up. I really hope for your sake a similar thing happens for you as I know how much it plays on your mind. I found I was in a better mind set up until my first cancellation and ever since I have been on edge. Its the mental preperation plus work and any care and of course buying things!
I'm still in that mind set and anxious I have a whole day they could potentially cancel, I don't think I will be able to relax until I am there but here's hoping :) thanks for thinking of me and I still have my fingers crossed for you. You must keep me posted!

To be honest Stevie, I've had to replace most things I.e. essentials. I wanted to buy new pillows but I'm skint. I've got a mattress topper as my bed has a lot of springs that poke out...I thought it may ease any lower back pain as we will be in bed an awful lot! Other wise, nighty and joggers. I don't really know what to wear post op!!

I haven't been cancelled today so fingers crossed this is it!? I feel numb.. I think I'm in denial/shock!
