Hi all, my names Nicky and I have been following this site for a while now reading posts and taking advise, I have finally plucked up the courage to register and say hi :) and give my story for anybody that would like to read it.

So my problems started around 15 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter to say I was massive is an understatement, every time I went to the midwife I would be sent up to the hospital to be rescanned as the were convinced that this huge belly could not possibly be just 1 baby I was a size 8 at the time with what looked like a beach ball shoved up my top lol, in fact I started showing around 8 weeks so I was a very long pregnancy. All they kept saying was that the baby was going to be around 11lb, however my massive bump only turned out to be a healthy 7lb 7oz baby girl I ended up having an emergency c/section.
After I had my daughter my tummy never went back down and I was left with a huge over flap of skin, after this I was told the only was to fix this would be to have a tummy tuck but they would wait until I was finished having children. I went on to have 2 more pregnancies and the weight seemed to just pile on, and I felt horrible, ugly, fat etc, when I attended the dr I was told if you get done to this weight well will do the op but unfortunately the rules would change. In January 2011 I decided to make a change with or without the end goal of having a tummy tuck so I stated at slimming world ( I had done several diets over a the years but always gave up) I decided in order for me to stick to it I would go every week good or bad and that's exactly what I have done, and it truly is the best this I have ever done for myself I went from 16st to 10st 13lb in 11 months. When I got to 10st 13lb my dr referred me to a psychologist for tummy tuck surgery my appointment was yesterday. I was terrified to attend as I had just come back from our holidays and had a gain of 10lbs :sigh: however the lady was extremely nice and very understanding of how holidays do that to us and has said to get the 10lb off and come back for medical photographs and that she will be supporting my claim 100% for a tummy tuck and that the next step would be to see the surgeon.
She said the surgeon could still refuse the surgery but this would be very unlikely although I am still worried in case that happens I don't think I will be happy until I have a date through for the surgery.

Has anybody else had a similar experience with psychologist/surgeon?

Thanks for reading hope to get some advise and meet some friends.

Nicky

Hi Nicky! That's great news that you are getting your tummy tuck. I have similar stats to you, started at 16 stone 3, now stable at 9 stone 10. I had a tummy tuck in sept 2013. It's an amazing feeling to be rid of the extra skin!!

Good luck with the op.

Thank you Crackers, I am really over the moon but now finding myself waiting on the postman lol, if you don't mind me asking how did you find the recovery. Xxxx

Hi!
The recovery wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My whole tummy was numb so I didn't really feel much pain, more tightness. But I think that contributed to me then doing too much too soon, without realising. I then had three wee bits that took longer to heal.

I also had 2 c sections - I reckon the recovery was similar.

Hope that helps!

Yeah I could see myself doing more than I should to soon, but I'm going to try and take the time to recover. I've had a previous c/section too and also full abdominal hysterectomy.

I seen in one of your posts that you had your surgery done at the spire I'm down for St. John's but they have said I could go to any hospital. I had my hysterectomy done at the spire through my works insurance and they were fantastic so I would be over the moon if I got offered to have it done there :)

Spire is fantastic, isn't it! I've been back in this week to get dog ears removed. That's a wee tidy up following a breast lift in April. That should be me done now!!

I got my tummy tuck done on nhs, and it could have been St. John's, spire or Clydebank, but I got spire. It's all to do with waiting times. Which doctor did you see?

That great I hope your feeling ok? Yeah I've been told the same either of the 3 hospitals, the nurse said 12 weeks but the doctor said 6-8 weeks that was on the 16th December. I got a letter to say I was officially on the waiting list and treatment would start within a maximum of 12 weeks for seeing the consultant so I'm hoping for a date soon :) my consultant is Mr Hilal Bahia he seems really nice, I did only see him for a few mins it was another dr at his clinic that done all the checking, paper work etc, then he came in had a quick look agreed to it and as I'm a smoker told me if I was still smoking the morning of the op he would cancel it. So I'm not sure if it'll be himself doing the op or another dr, the first dr was discussing me having the fleur de lis but when Mr Bahia came in he was looking and pulling at my tummy and sides and said I should be ok with just the full tummy tuck. So I guess I will just see what happens :)

Waiting on the date is just driving me nuts lol I'm not a patient person lol,

Oh I know Mr Bahia!! He is lovely. My dr is Patrick Addison, but Hilal helped with my breast uplift. You are in good hands. There was a mix up with my paperwork so they missed the 12 week deadline by 3 days!! I was gutted but it's all water under the bridge now. I'm doing fine thanks. A bit sore tho - worse than the other ops. I think it's because the scars this time are under my armpits. Have a good weekend Nicky.
