Criteria for private plastics

Does anyone know if a private surgeon would consider an arm or leg lift if your bmi is still in the overweight range?

Here all the time.....
Any surgeon who is a professional and not just after your hard earned cash should wait until the body part in question is the right size, not just your overall BMI I would have thought.

I saw one who was soul destroyingly horrid, but who told someone else I've met to go away and lose another 20kg before they were ready. Horrid man, but honest surgeon.

Having had mine done in January you want to wait until you are going to get the best result before you go under the knife. Some places do free consultations, it would be worth tracking one down. When I was researching it was Nuffield hospitals and some (not my) surgeon in East Grinstead.

Do not underestimate what a HUGE operation and recovery it is. It makes bariatrics look like sticking a plaster on a grazed knee by comparison.

Thanks for the info.
I'm just planning ahead really, making sure my goals are realistic. I'm pretty sure that my ultimate goal will be within the overweight range. Originally I was aiming for bmi 29 which makes me top of the overweight range, but I'm only about a stone away from that so I'm now aiming for another 17 llbs which will be a 100 llb loss. I'll see if i want to loose any more when I get there (which has always been the plan) i may try for another stone.
But I'm realising that I wont be happy with my arms or legs, my tummy isn't great but I can live with it, after all it's not been good since my 1st pregnancy 21 years ago so I've accepted it & no1 other than me & the oh see it! My boobs bother me a bit but they can be hid & look good in a good bra & again my oh & me are the only ones to see them.
I do want to be able to wear short sleeved tops with confidence. That's the priority surgery! I've not lost this much weight & achieved my lowest weight since I was 14 to still hide behind baggy t shirts & 3/4 length sleeves!
I dont think I'll ever wear shorts, but I want my legs done for different reasons. I've always had big legs, since I was a child. I remember being conscious of them since middle school (my nickname was tree trunks) so since around age 8. It would be amazing to have a normal pair of legs, it's something i never thought possible & it may now be real possibility!
I need to have an ultimate goal & as my weight loss is nearly there, this is now my new goal.
I best start saving!!!
I'm going to maintain for a year before i do this so plenty of time to prepare & make the relevant enquiries & plan my recovery time (sounds like I'll need it!)
If anyone knows of a good surgeon in the midlands, around Birmingham / coventry I'd be interested to hear from you.
Thank you all for your help & comments & sorry for the 'rant'!!!

check out CC Kat, she is Birmingham based (spire and BMI) but great reviews, great results and top of my list for my surgery when I get there.

If logistics allowed I would consider abroad and have received re commendations for revitalise in turkey, but being away 10 days as a single parent isn't an option.

I spoke to one of the plastic surgeons at work before I had my surgery, as I wanted a idea of how much it would cost to get my arms sorted after I have lost weight.

He asked how much I wanted to loose, he said once you get down to your target weight, he likes you to be weight stable/ maintaining for two years, there was no mention of certain bmi etc

Fighting on day by day
Surgeons vary but think hard. You need to be sure you have stopped and won't loose much more (or gain more) as its expensive to have done, once done it will "give' a little without any effect say a stone either way but put on you will stretch it and if you lose again it will be loose and flappy. If you lose more same thing. Most surgeons who really understand skin removal after major weight loss, not just due to surgery will ask that your weight has been stable for 1-2 years, some private have a BMI but most don't, stability is what they are concerned with. Really you should be too, its costs £5000+ for each op in the UK done separately (less if combined) do you really want to spend that and then loose/gain weight and ruin it? Full plastics can cost up to £30,000 my advice, having had it all done, is oh yes it is so worth it but be so careful. Yes of course you want it and it is natural to want it now but don't put your hard earned cash at risk for want of waiting a bit seeing where you are going. I only waited 2 years before I started and had lost 100% of my weight. I did loose more but that was due to problems, my skin bagged but since regaining back to normal weight its OK again. So many regain, often fairly quickly or think they are done but actually its just a delay. Take your time with plastics you will be glad you did!!
