Successfully Sleeved in Shrewsbury!

I'm so excited to be in this post op section now! My sleeve was done Monday 7th July and it all went fine. My surgeon wasn't at all confident that he would he able to go ahead because of adhesions from previous surgery, but he did. He came across a Hiatus Hernia once he was in there so he sorted that to.

I stayed in hospital until yesterday. I've been so lucky, I've had no sickness. The only thing that's plagued me a bit is the wind but of course that's the same for everyone.

I'm very sore where he went in and am taking my pain killers religiously at the moment. I found sleeping tricky last night, in hospital you have the luxury of a bed that you can position but of course at home it's a bit different! My other half's agreed to sleep downstairs tonight so at least I can get comfy and not have to worry about disturbing him.

I weighed yesterday at 21st 13lb's. So from the beginning of my LSD I've lost 17lb's. Pretty chuffed with that.

I need to get organised tomorrow and get in a routine, I got up about 10.30 this morning and had a Fortisip...apart from a glass of ribena that's all I've had. I just have no urge to eat at all! I have to do 3 weeks of free fluids so I guess as long as I start incorporating 3 meals and fluids from Monday this will be fine. Surely better to let things start to settle.

I haven't once thought, what have I done, or felt like I'm going to be deprived. It's the best thing I have ever done! I see there's a lot of stuff in the press today about weight loss surgery, the woman on loose women this afternoon basically slated it as a waste of tax payers money. I for one know that my health would have drastically deteriorated over time. I know it's not the responsibility of the nhs to bale me out but I'm incredibly thankfull that I've been given this tool to help me.

Onwards and downwards!!!!

Brilliant stuff i got sleeved last Sunday and don't regret one bit and agree with the point about health decline if you would have remained the same because I too would of as I could feel my health getting worse and this is the best thing to happen to me in a long time good luck on the next step of your journey :)

So glad you're on the losers bench and doing well. :D

I has to turn over loose women today... A waste of tax payers money? Hummm, I'm a tax payer and I don't like paying taxes for many people that don't deserve the money - but hey, I have to get over it. And so will they.

Obesity is an illness, and we have the right to have the best chance at this life we can have! Would they deny treatment to an anorexic treatment? No.

Enough of my soap box, lol.

Good luck Hun. I'm lucky I only have 10 days of fluid only. Then 3.5 weeks purée. Let me know how you get on xxx :)

Exactly, I've always worked and have paid lots of tax so won't let such remarks get me down.
Anyhow I'm too excited for the future to let Janet Street Porter pee on my parade, lol. Thank you, so chuffed to be a loser!

Xxx

Slept so well last night, thank god! Think it was a combination of other half sleeping downstairs and getting up and about yesterday without a snooze.

My thoughts have turned to a holiday! I am desperate to get off somewhere for a week with my son (other half is working) bit scared though, in case I was to become unwell. Can't see it because I feel so good but you never know!

Did anyone jet off anywhere or know anyone who did soon after their op?

Xx

The woman opposite me who had the rny went on holiday 6days after surgery and she was fine. We also had op at Shrewsbury by mr riera. X

Hi I had a gastric bypass on the 17 June ...I'm going back to work tomorrow 14 July and we go to Hisaronu in Turkey on the 25 th July ....I've spoke to airline and that's all fine ....I've taken my own insurance out covering gastric bypass surgery ...we are half board in a villa so any problems with food I will make my own ....but to be honest I'm not eating much still but trying to get fluids in ....good luck

Hiya Lisa, Mr Rieara did me to! (So to speak lol). He's lovely isn't he. He's my hero, I feel so grateful to him.

How are you doing? Did you have RNY or sleeve?

X

I've decided to book a couple of days away at the sea in Wales for now and will maybe go away last week in August. I've been there in Turkey...it was hot hot hot loved it! Xx

I had a RNY he's my hero operated on me twice this year first for gall bladder then my bypass. Are you from Shrewsbury?

Lol sorry to disappoint wish I did live in Shrewsbury love it there :) x

Yeah its a lovely place to live. I'm very lucky...just been to aldi and got a load of drinking yoghurt, flavored water and milk shakes to drink. I really need to start getting the protein in properly! I've not felt like eating at all but I know I need to...Surely in the early days it's more important to keep hydrated!?!?

Another 2 lb's down today so that's 21 1/2lb's gone! Well chuffed with that xxx

I'm so pleased for you! I remember how worried you were that the surgeon wouldn't be able to do the operation via keyhole and it's great that he fixed your hiatus hernia too - which hospital did you have your surgery in?

I also have a hiatus hernia plus a parastomal hernia so I wonder if my surgeon will be able to fix mine!

As for wasting tax payers money - maybe they should rock up to an A&E on a Friday/Saturday night and see how many drunk people have to be treated.

That's fantastic weight loss, yes very important to get fluids down. It's something I've struggled with from the start. I don't think I ever get enough fluids. Not feeling hungry is both good and bad as now I'm on solids I seem to forget to eat, I've noticed that if I forget any meals I don't lose weight that day. (Yes I'm naughty weigh myself daily lol ) weight loss has slowed right down last few weeks but today I've lost 1.6lbs which is already half of what I lost last week all together.
Start back at work today not sure if that will help or hinder me as I work in Asda.
Protein is the one thing I don't get enough of along with fluids. Milk makes me feel sick though so struggling with that.

Thank you, I'm so pleased it's coming off!

The nurse called yesterday and I checked with her about the quantities I'm having, she said it all sounded fine so that's put my mind at rest. The pain in my tum seems to have moved. The actual incisions don't feel to bad at all now but lower down in my tum is very sore. I think it might be from doing to much to soon! Chilling today.

Ordered a size 20 dress to wear next weekend yesterday (usually a 24). Worried now that I'm being a bit optimistic lol...but if I keep loosing a 1lb a day for just the next week I should be OK! We're off to a scooter rally in Weston Super Mare, they are usually alcohol filled weekends but I will be on the old orange juice! My partner was saying will I have a little drink, not going to! I'm lucky that I can still have a great laugh with not a drop of alcohol! There will be loads of our friends there so really looking forward to it. Might even have a dance, the last few times I've been I've refused because I felt so self conscious and ended up like a big sweaty mess! Not a good look.

Really want to go swimming...tool the stickies off my incisions yesterday and they are dry and all look good. Guess I should wait a bit longer to swim though...

Xx
