JennaMeri's Sleeve Journey

Hello! Have decided to keep a diary of sorts so I can most definitely look back and say, "YES, I DID IT!" :D Pre-Assessment was this morning... man was that crappy. The nurse couldn't find a vein so she had to call the duty doctor in and it still took him 20 minutes to find one (ended up using one in my hand). Lots of ouch, I couldn't feel my feet and I had spotty vision (I have a needle piercing skin phobia) for a good 10 minutes afterwards. I do wonder why it seems like everyone's 'shrink your liver' diet is different... :/ Mine has me having a piece of toast with the tiniest bit of margarine on it for breakfast, a yogurt for snack, two eggs and loads of veggies for lunch (and dinner) and another two yogurts. Plus as much water as I can possibly drink without drowning myself. Does it just depend on where you have it or is it more person specific?

Anyway, enough for now... time to go to bed in prep for my last day of work before my op! G'Night! :D

Jenna I got offered 3 different pre-op diets and I chose the milk diet so I could get myself in the headspace of not eating etc. It's working really, day 4 just about to start and i'm not fussed about food and don't feel hungry x

Ah okay! I was only given the one option. What is yours? I wanted to do something that will prepare me for having just liquids.

Thanks! Not long to go now. :)

It'll flyby... I am doing Cambridge Plan but I cant stand the shakes... I am having a soup or 2 or 1 bar a day with cottage cheese as back up. But I have not been hungry so backed it up currently with a latte made with skimmed milk - BUT .... I have the worst ... ahemmmmmmmm wind EVER... Its scary, I thought I had tummy ache but its not... Thank god I am at home and everyone is upstairs!

LOL x

I'm thinking that I know exactly what you mean! LOL Hopefully it doesn't last too long for you!

I keep forgetting to post in it! Eeek! I'll try to post more often.

Well, it's been two and a half weeks now... IS THAT ALL?! Seems insane. I haven't been a very good girl I'm afraid. I seriously cleaned and reorganised the garage... took me two hours and I was so shattered afterwards, but I felt better for it. I've already started having pureed things, I just wasn't getting enough on the liquids (kept feeling dizzy and lightheaded and just rough)... but I didn't understand why I had to be on liquids for four weeks anyway. I know each surgeon is different, but my friend had this done last July and she was only on liquids for a week, so four seemed a bit overkill to me, especially given how I was feeling. I've been scolded by the nurse both times she's phoned me due to not being able to get enough water in, but honestly, I just keep forgetting to drink it even though it's sitting right in front of me. I'm thinking of getting a fitbit Force (they don't come out til March) and set up a silent alarm to go off every 10-15 mins to remind me to drink stuff. Plus it'll track my sleeping patterns, steps taken and calories burned throughout the day. I need to look in to getting a new scale though, mine keeps saying that it has a low battery even though I JUST changed it.

I need to update my stats... I'm only weighing weekly, but yesterday I went to my GP to get my scripts and had a weigh-in there. Last October I was 120kg, yesterday I was.... 100kg!!!! I was so excited. Until I weighed myself at home (just to compare and see how different it was) and I was 105-106kg. Oh well.

How is every one else doing? :)

Yeyyy!!! I'm so pleased you're gonna keep up with your diary :) You sound like you're doing so well!! Can I ask how you're doing with protein? It's by far my biggest difficulty with this whole thing as I hate protein shakes/build up drinks etc...I feel fine but my legs still feel like lead and I feel like I weigh double what I do right now! I'm hoping it's just cos I'm still only a week post op and that I'm still getting over it all? Well done sweety, you're doing so well, that loss is incredible x

To be quite honest, I'm having two slimfast a day (or trying to) and then dinner I'm pureeing sandwich fillers. All day breakfast one today and I had a try and it's quite yummy. So I don't really keep close tabs on my protein portions. I am making sure that whatever I do puree starts with a protein (today has eggs and sausage) so I know I'm definitely getting some. I haven't yet found a protein powder that I like so that's out for me. The complan things are just disgusting... so it's really just chocolate slimfast for me.
As for feeling heavy... just have to keep moving, and not just the legs. Light stretching can help loads... at least it did for me. :) But hey, you're home and on your way... it's small hurdles from here and there's nothing we can't do! :)

I have been so scared to try and get in 60g or as near damnit of protein and it's been stressing me out! Slimfast has loads of protein doesn't it but I can't bear it!! Sigh, I must find a way to get it in, but howwww? X

Hmmm... do you like peanut butter? You could try a watery pb smoothie.

I do like peanut butter but 'watery' puts me off, I'm so fussy haha. Once I'm on puree it'll be so much easier, i can have a tablespoon of smooth peanut then can't I? Only 5 more days now, I'll just hold out x

I would imagine you could so long as it's smooth. :) Not long to wait!

So my Christmas present from my husband was tickets to see WICKED. We went last night and it was amazing! I even got a mini ice cream during the intermission... I didn't eat it all (hubby had what was left), but it was nice not having to completely forgo it. :) I also had the most to drink to date yesterday. I managed 1800 mls... SOOO close to the 2L that the nurse keeps scolding me about.
I've had my first cold in about 5 years the last few days. The sneezing and coughing really isn't helping my abs much. I'm really hoping it stops soon. Good thoughts. Hope every one is well! :)

Good luck on your journey..
