This is me.... This is the start of my journey

Everyday I'm on here learning a lot about all of you and your journeys, I realised I have not said much about me. Not that I'm that interesting, lol. So here goes, I've been over weight for most of my life and have tried EVERY diet imaginable. I lose some and then put it all back on, in some cases I have not lost anything at all.

I was told to check my thyroid by a Dr when I was about to have surgery on my knee. That Dr refused surgery last minute.com and said I need to be checked out. That was approx 10yrs ago, nothing at all was done as all my blood tests came back borderline normal. Until I stomped my feet earlier this year and insisted something was wrong. My dr then referred me for a scan which revealed abnormalities and I was fast tracked to test for cancer. The worst few months of my life.

On a good note after several test, hospital appointments, tears and emotional breakdowns I was told that the nodules found are benign. I was referred to a endocrinologist at St George's Hospital who spoke about my weight loss options and discussed surgery. She then started the process, a few weeks later I got a phone call to meet both the surgeon and the dietician a week apart.

Dr Reddy, was very informative, he knows his stuff explained everything in great detail. I went in thinking I wanted a band or sleeve, I had not even researched the bypass. However, after a lengthy conversation he recommended that the bypass would be better for me and I would see greater results. He's the the expert so I agreed with his decision.

The following week I met with dietician after completing a 22 page questionnaire #sighs. She too recommended the bypass and said my case will now be put before the panel.

I received a letter 08/10/2014 from the consultant addressed to my endocrinologist stating 'She has undertaken all aspects of Tier 3.....is a suitable candidate for surgery .....and this case will be discussed in Multidisciplinary Team meeting'.

So, this where I am at now, just WAITING....... I know panel is every Wednesday so I obviously wasn't discussed last week, so I'm hoping I go up tomorrow. I just can't sleep, I have a appointment with the endocrinologist on the 11/11 but I don't even know what that's for. In my head I'm thinking that appointment is for them to tell me no. I shouldn't be negative but this is where I'm at right now.

I'm currently the heaviest I have ever been in my life and I hate it.

Sorry if I bored you, but my journey may help someone, just like some of yours have helped mine.

Please let me know your experiences or give me some advice on what I am to expect from here, timescales etc
