Felling inspired to start the ball rolling

Hi all

I have my surgery booked for 23rd July, 3 weeks tomorrow. Spoke with my surgeon today and he recommends a pre op diet of low fat low cal meals for 7-10 days.

Reading a few other people's posts I have decided that if I truly am wanting to change my life why am I waiting until 23rd July when I can start now.

I have therefore decided that in the morning I shall begin a food replacement diet. It's called exante and I have done it before, 4 shakes or soups per day. I figure why do I want to be potentially heavier at the end of the month, when I could kick start my new life NOW!

Anyway, wish me luck cause I do struggle like hell giving up food, but here is to a new life where food cannot have the same value to me (a crutch) as it has done for so many years.

Will update this thread to show my progress just so I can be accountable to someone.

Anyway bed calls so night night

Hello and very warm welcome to you, excitedbutnervous!
your right in making changes to your life now as you should try to get use to eating less and making better food choices in the days and months ahead then work on the head demons because that is the devils spawn for me ! Very good luck

How long have you been post op, and how are you doing?

The head demons are my problem now, and I just give unto them. Hoping surgery will be a physical barrier as I have nothing but will power to help me at the moment, and it makes it very very hard.

I'm nearly 9months postcode, I had a bypass and in total including pre surgery weight lose I'm nearly 13 stone down.it has slowed down in the last month or s
But is still coming off I feel amazing and it's changed my life so much I've joined a gym I walk to work and have bags of energy Im just so happy I'm sure it will do the same for you
My bad habit is I still sometimes make to much food knowing I can't eat it all or I eat things which make me dump (I get the "Tom tits " if you catch my drift) some days ate better than others so it's work in progress for me

Well that didn't go well.

Nutritionalist phoned today and told me not to do the pre op diet for longer than 2 weeks maximum as because it's so strict I am likely to fall off it.

That basically was the green light for me to .... Eat what you want for the next week and then starve... Sigh why do I do this to myself.

So today started well and ended poorly ?.

Don't know what my plan is tomorrow now, I guess just eat better and avoid the crap.

Hiya
I've got 6/8 for surgery and from 8/7 for pre op diet, I too thought why go crazy eating everything is sight when I can be losing weight and make surgery safer and weight loss the other end more achievable, so I started on a diet similar to exante called slim & save. Hubbie does the exante but as I'm a fussy moo and can't stomach the soups or meals I just pick and choose which flavour shakes I want from S & S.

I've never been so determined and although I haven't told the dietician about starting early, I see it as my chance to train the will power and make sensible choices (like last night's chicken goujon and sweet chilli sauce), tasting the food and really enjoying it instead of inhaling it with no thoughts of what I'm doing - all part of Paul McKennas 4 golden rules!!!

When is your surgery? ( sorry if you have said already - brain like a sieve atm, full of uni stuff)

My surgery is on the 23rd, so start the pre op next Thursday for 2 weeks

I feel such a failure already that I haven't been able to stick to healthy eating let alone food packs like I planned.

I am seeing my best mate tomorrow and will share with her my surgery details. She will go ballistic but I can't keep it from her. We are going out for food and I have made a mental decision that this has to be the end of stupid eating and Monday the beginning of healthy eating!

Updated on another thread. I am on day 3 of the pre-op diet and so far so good. Hard but just about managing.

Well done Excited - take it day by day!! I fell off the wagon the other day and felt soooo awful and bloated that I regretted it instantly!!

I am too scared to fall off the wagon. I meant to start 3 weeks pre-op and everyday was a piss poor attempt. I blame the Nutritionalist as he told me so it for 2 weeks and no more so the devil and my head kept saying "why are you doing it for long, cheat cheat cheat". So now the 2 weeks are here I am scared that they won't op on me if for some reason I haven't stuck to it

If I am honest it's getting easier too, although I am pushing what I am allowed to the limit!

Well done on getting back on track... That's harder sometimes than just sticking with it ;)

I have been on and off S&S for a few years, and was hoping to use that to get me kick started after my 1st appointment this week. I hope I am allowed!
