Scheduled for MGB in early september. Looking ideas of what to have/ not have in my liver shrinking diet in final few weeks beforehand. Thanking you in advance for any help/ guidance.
hello
normally your given a diet to follow either a milk diet or a low calorie its normally broken down so you don't need to worry just have the diet food in ready to go
Going to Belgium for it so the pre op diet instructions not as stringent as they would be over here i think. Iv read about people doing milk and yoghurt diet alone & others having soup etc. Steep learning curve
I have had wls in Belgium twice with no pre op plan given. Both times I just did Cambridge/lighter life 1-2 wks before. The night before my mgb Bart told me to go to a fancy restaurant and have a glass of wine!

The first half of my pre-op I was on holiday in Turkey. No food scales, eating out every night etc. We were in an apartment so I could sort out my own breakfast and lunch if we were near the pool. I just ate low fat low carb, keeping to about 800 cals to 1000 cals a day. It was mostly stuff liked grilled sea bass with salad, or a tuna salad. I made sure that I got to do my own dressing etc.. I had to guesstimate a lot of things but logged everything on myfitnesspal and tried to stick to protein first etc. chew chew chew .. All that good stuff
BSS said that was fine. I didn't lose a lot but I am a slow loser anyway and my post op notes said my liver was only mildly fatty. I did the diet for about 17 or 18 days.
Before I had my gastric band in 2007 I did a 4 week pre-op again low fat low cal and lost a stone, but I was quite a b
It heavier then.
Hope this helps.
Ps of you google pre op bariatric diet you should find loads from various hospitals.
