Any revisioners out there from band to by pass or sleeve or whatever?!?? Really want to make contact with those of you who have had band removed and now on journey at whatever stage to revision of rny, sleeve or whatever!
There is no separate area for revision n this is such a fast growing area. Xx

My story (edited and reposted from a previous thread!!)

Life has been an utter roller coaster ride with more downs than I care to remember. Two band slips with the first happening a year out when I'd reached target weight with a 7 stone loss. This went un diagnosed for nearly two years and resulted in an emergency op once my stomach was knitting itself closed. The band was saved and repositioned. My weight then started to go on despite fills and more fills then the sudden need to have unfills. This went on repeatedly for over three years. I used to vomit bile, wake up chocking on my saliva and even chew food but spit it out through fear of swallowing it. Bad times. I'd lose 7 lbs in a couple of weeks but then stop despite badly consuming anything. The thought of another defill was terrifying but necessary and although still restricted the fact I could eat just something resulted in fast weight gain. Never just right like the first Lapband prior to it slipping.

I then met Chris Pring who listened to my struggles and he allowed for my aftercare to be under the NHS. I had all the restriction removed when pregnant then once baby reached 4 months I started to have band fills once again. I joined a boot camp and have worked really hard only to find my weight is still going up and up. I'm now weighing in at more than my original wls start of 17 st.
A few weeks ago I mentioned again that I'm convinced the band was repositioned in the wrong place. Chris sent me for a barium swallow which showed the band is sat at the base of my oesophagus with no stomach pouch above. He said no wonder I felt strangulated with a fill or zero without! All or nothing so to speak!! So, turns out the reposition that was stitched to my diaphragm is actually not in the correct position which I've lived with for 5 years now.

The relief I feel is overwhelming. Finally someone has listened and investigated properly with x-rays rather than just seeing how I do with another fill or unfill.

Revision surgery to remove this lap band and convert to a bypass is on 14th Jan. I cannot wait and feel like I'm starting another new journey. Let's hope this time is a positive one with no more complications.

Milk diet starts 1st Jan :-/

Copied from my introduction thread

Hi everyone. I'm back in this site after years of not being on as my band was fine. Had a six stone loss with my band and went from a 24-14/16. Life was great.Sadly my arthritis meds caused me to be so sick I sicked my stomach into my diaphragm n had to have emergency surgery and the band removed.
In 18 months I have put all of my weight back and I'm devastated after doing so well and even having a tummy tuck too.
Long story but during my begging visits to fat clinic, they wondered if I had sleep apnoea as I was always tired and sleepy. The off shot of it was I had. I have to sleep on a nasty machine.....but the positive side is I now qualify for reconstruction without a quibble!!!!
Gp referred me to Luton and in two weeks I got a cancellation with a days notice. Today they accepted me and I see the surgeon next week as I have adhesions n I need to see him first to see what path I am to follow. Fingers crossed for by pass )
So I'm happy n here again revisiting somewhere I never hoped I would have to join again. So your not rid of me yet lol.!!!
Been told op may be four months, but I go on hols in April so I expect it will be after hols.
Whoop whoop

Hi, I am a revision from band to bypass!
Had my bypass 2 weeks ago and apart from a slow weight loss, I am really glad I did it. I was really struggling with getting restriction with the band.. I now know what restriction is! It's amazing! With the band I had fill,,devil, fill,,defill and they couldn't get the right spot. I ended up dieting again to lose 3 stone, but put it all back on plus more! I am hoping the bypass will give me long term results x

Hi there, I am a revision from band to sleeve. Had my band in May 2006 and went from a size 30 to a size 16 and was very happy. BMI at 30 and very contented. Maintained my loss for 3 years and then suddenly my band tightened and I was being sick a lot. Lost 1.5 stone in 6 weeks but felt dreadful. Had to have a complete defill and gained 3 stone in 12 weeks. Once I was allowed to have fills again, I must have had 25 fills and defills but could not get the restriction right second time around so after 3 years of struggling I decided to have a revision. Good luck xxx

There are many probs with bands popping up now :((( when did you have your sleeve and how is this doing weight wise and living wise? Good luck

Hi, I didn't have to lose anything to book my surgery, but I did have to try for six months to work with my band and this surgeon. He was fantastic, Mr Stuart, Rosshall Hospital in Glasgow x

I suppose once people convert they start posting on their converted section

Most of the ones I know of have posted on here, Sashie is one to look out for, she has had all three ops. Hopefully she will see this and post her story :)

Good luck to all of the soon to be converters xx

I had my sleeve nearly 5 weeks ago, including the pre-op diet I have lost 24lbs so that's nearly 2 stone. I wish it was faster and I do feel hungry, contrary to what my surgeon promised me!! Early days yet but I am trying hard!!

Yes, I am 3 weeks out now and finding it all quite easy so far! Off to see the dietitian now to learn about weaning on to solids!! Yeah!

Band July 2012. Bypass May 2013. The latter is by far easier to have a more normal eating life with ;).

Wish I'd had the balls to have the bypass first off, thought I'd have the band for about 5-7 years. So glad it's on a box on my stairs as I can kick it down the rest of them :D:D:D did lose shed loads of weight with it though :D:D
