Has anyone done band to sleeve????
Any problems with leak in staple line?
Too scared of bypass, should I need band removed

Hi, I have. Had band November 2010 and had it removed and converted to sleeve November 2014. Have had a few problems but not leaks - acid reflux, sickness and fatigue but things slowly getting better. Weight loss is not as rapid as with first time surgery but was warned that would be the case.

I had my band removed 18 months ago and I'm 6 days post op having a sleeve. So far so good.

Even after 18 months I still had some scaring, surgeon advised it was good to leave it as long as possible after the band to let everything settle as it was a terrible experience. I wish I had the sleeve first time round. As I said only 6 days post -op so still on liquids only. Had a great surgeon and he is very confident I will get to my goal weight. I will keep you posted on my progress xxxx

Hi, I had my band in 2005, I had no problems with it and managed to loose 5 and half stones however after a year the band eroded into my stomach. I eventually had the band removed in 2010. Unfortunately I regained all the weight I loss and a lot more. I saved and eventually had the gastric sleeve operation on the 1st August 2014 and since then I have lost 80 pounds and I have not had any problems, no leaks. The operation took longer than normal as I had lost of scared tissue and lesions however I had an excellent surgeon Mr Manur. I definitely have not regretted having the sleeve I also wished I had had the sleeve done instead of the band but it was not available then. Good luck with it all. Let us know what you decide to do.

Thank you for all replies.
Gonna have a consultation with a surgeon in July and will let you know what he thinks...

Thanks, not much. Possibly scar tissue building up around/on it. Being sick with empty band. Thats it really....

Hope all goes well for you Hun xx

I had a band to mini bypass revision in the same op. Op was longer due to scar tissue. Be careful if you are an acid reflux sufferer and convert to sleeve as this can make it worse in some cases x

I am the same as Caroline, a band to mini bypass. It was the best op for me because I had severe reflux symptoms, this does not mean just heartburn. I coughed all day, sore throat, lost my voice, was breathless after one flight of stairs etc. A sleeve is not recommended for anyone with reflux. It is also reversible which the sleeve is not. Having said that the MGB actually uses a sleeve as a stomach as well as bypassing part of the intestines. I am one week out and healing well.
Good luck with getting your band sorted, whatever you choose. X

Thank you all.....
Having consultation abroad in Hungary (i am Hungarian) on 22nd july.
Will let you know how it goes.
