Just had first consultation

Just seen Dr Raj at Pontefract. After all the familiarity questions regarding illnesses, medications and lifestyle , he said in January I should attend a weekly 3 hour diet and exercise group meeting for 12 weeks. After that I will see him again to check I have lost 5% then he will apply for funding and set the ball rolling. Feel quite happy now I've met him and finally feel like my foot is on the ladder to the new me. Sorry to all the people I've badgered with questions about this stage

Thanks everyone, apparently the weight management course starts mid Feb now so still waiting for that! Just lost the 4lb I put on in Christmas week . Eeek!!

3 hour, weekly excercise group for 12 weeks? Gosh, if my NHS asks me to do that, I'll never get the time off work... Is that the norm? xx

It's part of the new guidelines for surgery it's jut more loops to jump through

Just an update, well I finally got onto the weight management course this week! Rather later than they said. I saw a dietician in January at my request who gave me a 5% target loss which I have only 5lb to go by the end of the 12 weeks with the delay. I am on a one to one fortnightly appointment. Because I've nearly lost my target she's going to count this as my 2nd app (because of seeing her in jan) so have 4 more fortnightly weigh ins/discussions and then she will refer me back to the consultant. My one on one physio starts next week separately.

great news finally getting there after a slow start

Update. Finished weight management course mid may and this week saw consultant for follow up. He has put me forward to bariatric team and surgery. I hope to attend Septembers seminar where I will also get apts for phsychologist and dietician in prep for pre op. Just a few months to go ......

Update: Seminar is on 18 Sept. Can I dare hope for the big day by the end of the year? ....

Further Update: MDT has approved my surgery and I will now meet the surgeon in a couple of weeks. Expected surgery date late Dec early Jan. It's coming together now after just over 12 months since referral
