Bariatric Nurse

HI everyone..

So I received a letter today from why weight for an appt to see the Bariatric nurse? The last time I was supposed to see the Bariatric physician it was cancelled and I was told I don't need to see him ... I'm confused.. Does anyone know the purpose of this appt?

No I don't think it is to do with the questionnaire.. I'll be calling tomorrow to find out about the diary and questionnaire, I'm feeling all stressed out...

No Hun! I asked my dietician what it was about and her reply was that some people see the dr and others the nurse and that I'll still have the MDT at the hospital! When I called Chichester last week they confirmed receiving my food diary and questionnaire but that it was going to be a bit of a wait for an appointment for the MDT - I don't mind I just want a friggin date already!! :-/

Nothing yesterday either.. How did you get yours so fast Harley? Are you nhs or private? (Can't remember)

Hi Birdie
You sound so down, roll on the 12th when you see the nurse and have a good talk.

Hugs Elaine XX

Thanks Elaine.. You right, I was a bit down.. I'm ok now though. I'm quite glad to have the nurse appointment.. I have a load of questions for her! Lol! :D how are you?

Hi Hayley
Pleased you are feeling better. Yes feeling a bit like you at the moment, pleased when the 19th is here, hope to know whats going on then.

Hate this waiting - I have heard we could still be in for a long wait.. Well me at least! I might phone again tomorrow and pester about the MDT appt. Probably not worth it though as they'll just tell me to take a ticket and stand in line! *sigh* well Hun if you need to chat you know where I am! (Happy to email too!) :)

Tomorrow I meet with the Bariatric nurse.. Feeling a little nervous.. Any specific question you can think of? I have a few listed but not loads.. Still don't know what this appointment is for! :-o

Hi Lumpy

Well it was actually better than I thought it would be! We both agreed that it should have happened before my referral to Chichester but thought it was probably just a box that they forgot to tick. Anyway, we just discussed things like medical history and previous operations, as well as current morbidities and what surgery I want.

We spoke about both sleeve and bypass and she weighed me (lost 4lbs! Yay!) and she said all in all she was happy with everything.

I asked, so what happens when I get my MDT appointment and she explained the meeting with the surgeon, dietitian and psychologist and that they would meet either same day or after and then give me a surgery date. So I asked if it was possible in her opinion that I might be turned down at the MDT and she said she didn't think there was any reason why I could be turned down.

But was told to continue getting fitter for surgery to strengthen the heart so that there are no complications on the table - although I have no heart problems at the moment, I think it was just general advice. Also gave some tips to give skin more elasticity... Exfoliate the whole body and moisturise at least once a week.

Left feeling relieved and excited!

Oh how fantastic! I bet your chuffed!!! I bet it's nice just to have a little reassurance that you will get there! Ohhh you must be so excited! I'm excited for you lol sounds like you got some good advise, best get that moisturising cream out lol

Really hoping I get passed on by the team, I won't know for a good month or so yet x

Following your progress intently as we are both hoping to go to the same hospital, so nice to be able to talk to someone going through the same process x
