Gastric Balloon

Hello there, I've had a look around the forum and think this is one of the places I should be :)

I'm due to have a balloon inserted on the 24th in Manchester and I'm all excited. I fly to the Uk on Monday and will stay for 10 days. I'm off to Wales first, although I'm Scottish, Wales is my home when in the Uk.

I'll have time with my lovely step-dad and as a bonus my daughter who's at university in Bristol will spend time with me and my son who works in Aberdeen will also visit.

I have a few plans for the days after the balloon is done but whether they get done all depends on how I'm feeling.

As it is I have 8 stone to lose, I know the balloon won't shift 8 stone but it will give me a starting point to go on from. It will also help me identify what makes me comfort eat, well I know what does, but this will just confirm it and help me make the lifestyle changes that are needing to be made.

I thought I could keep a diary of what happens over the next six months because whilst researching the balloon I couldn't find any forums where it was discussed by people who'd had it done. People wanted it but no-one seemed to have had it and spoken about it.

I'm a stay at home mom and always have been, I have two young grandchildren and am now a stay at home granny as well. Well that's when I'm not out and about showing the wee ones off to anyone who's daft enough to stand still for 20 seconds. I have 5 children of my own, the eldest is 30 and the youngest is almost 17, I was very clever and did boy, girl, boy, girl, boy. ;)

My youngest child is severly autistic and has been educated at home as we felt it was the best thing for someone with his very extensive difficutlies. As it is he is wonderful, a miracle, and I wish the whole world knew him.

So that's a wee bit about me :)

I'm off to the pharmacy today as I have to start some medication on Monday in order to prepare my tummy for the balloon, I'm really happy :)
