For your toiletries, include a lip Vaseline, i know sometimes your lips dry out, well mines did during surgery for knee

Definitely Vaseline or other lip balm!!

And in terms of dry mouth spray, I had one prescribed by my GP at my request when I told him I was having surgery privately and that it may be helpful. It didn't taste great to be honest but it helped slightly!

I can't comment on the Boots spray as I didn't try it.

All the best for your surgery!xx

thanks everyone. Have added the Vaseline. And will get some dry mouth spray tomorrow.

they say they provide towels.

What should I do with meds that aren't in liquid form? How long until I can take them again?

Most critical is a neuropathic painkiller that's a large tablet or two capsules. Of course I'll speak to my consultant before the op but good to clarify in my head before.

My bag will include:

Medicines
Change of clothes: 3 T-shirts, shorts, underwear
iPad
Charger
Kindle
A couple of books

Anything else needed?

9 days to go!

Toothbrush and paste.

Take it as read as I'll have my whole backpack with me and there will be a lot more other than what's listed above.

i was told no tablets (only liquids and chewable tablets) for 8 weeks

I haven't been told this but have switched to capsules as they can be opened and mixed with liquids/foods.

Ps forgot to mention getting a cushion, ive read of some people taking one with them so when travelling home in a car after WSL putting a seat belt on over the fresh wounds can be painful so having a cushion between you and the belt can ease any signs of discomfort just like stretchy trouers or better still keep your best( your bound to have brought a new pair!) Pair of pj's to travel home in if you can

haha yup.. Have brought new pjs!

my best mate is picking me up so will ask him to bring a cushion.

thanks x

Yes they do and they are great if you like drying yourself with small pieces of sandpaper,:8855: I was so glad I took my own soft fluffy towels

I haven't got a dressing gown!

Do you have a long cardi or a wrap/shawl as the walk to theatre maybe a bit draughty with a backless gown on :8855:
