42 Stone Mum-Dominique Lanoise & My Weight is KIlling Me

HEy

did anyone watch these shos? I watched them night, they are replaying tonight on TLC.

A very good look into people's struggles, successes & sad stuff.

Let me know what you think?

I'm addicted to all them weight programs that end in surgery. Thought tho on the British fattest people one I think it was called. She was biggest woman in uk I thought she didn't deserve the op she had it in aintree in Liverpool but before op on her diet she was crying cos hubby cut her cake up wrong. So many people are willing to give up everything and she was like a baby over her cake and chocolate

Ohmygod I didn't see that one. What channel? One of the ones I watched yesterday, they fell over backwards to help her. She discharged herself from rehabilitation, would not accept any help after the surgery and later died.

Personally, she wasn't ready. They kept telling her she had to lose before they would do op and each time her weight increased by 70-100lbs. They decided to do op anyway

At the moment I'm still waiting for my journey to start, so any program is interesting, but I understand what you mean. The Americans have to jump different hoops to over here.

How's your journey going?

It's ok. I have great loss in down 5 stone 7 lb in 3 months but I had a lot of complications and spent my first 9 weeks in hospital. And didn't loose anything then cod they had me taking 1900kcal Iv per day. But thank god that part is over and I'm on mend.

Sorry to hear that and glad your now on the mend. It must have been a difficult time for you. Do you gave any regrets?

In fairness I had 3 previous bariatric operations so it was a risk but they reassured me Id be ok I still regret it as I nearly died a few times but I'm getting over it. I have very bad nightmares and flash backs but I know my journey is not like anyone else's. I'm just glad to be here.

I would never turn anyone else off having surgery tho cod I had great success before. I lost 11 stone with a band and was so happy for years till I had it removed stupidity thinking I could live without it.

I just watched the programme about the 42 stone woman I year later...she was called dominque(I think)..
I'll be honest and I was getting really annoyed with her...she had six children! She was going to die..but she chose food over her kids to be blunt.
I thought she was selfish, addiction or not..those 6 kids are now left without their mother, and I felt really sad for that.
Poor kids..

I kinda agree with you.

She defo chose food over everything, kids and surgery.

I know they squashed the whole story into a hour, however I didn't see anyone supporting her properly in regards to her eating issues. So she was set up to fail.

It was quite sad

What I didn't understand was why on earth she discharged herself from that centre, when they was trying to help her!
What a selfish selfish woman....I did think from what we was shown the doctors tryed their very best to get her a bypass and deliver her diet meals..but she threw it back in everyone's face..

I think mentally she wasn't prepared or ready for change. She showed that by her weight increasing everytime.

I watched these programs too, I love them, its totally fascinating!
To be fair those people needed detaining under the mental health act for not having mental capacity, not surgery, they we well beyond surgery.
Its a form of self harm to get to that size.
As for crying when your cake isnt cut right..thats not average!

The people who bring them the food need to stop as they are assisting them all the way.

The lady that died over living for her kids..thats shocking but thats serious addiction, she needed hospitalising and treating.

All very sad, but so too if you are an alcoholic, they dont show programs like that often!

Your right Kar

She defo need a serious psychological evaluation . How the hell can you call the emergency services to be removed from one hospital?

I'm addicted to these shows a great eye opener.

I watched both Domineque was in another show first it was interesting to see it all come to an end.

Allan the one in the second show I really believe his mom is feeding him to keep him fat!.

I didn't see any of these programmes but am very surprised to read the comments about the woman who chose food over her children. If anyone knows about her struggle, it is everyone on this site. We all know it isn't as easy as that. If it was that easy then this forum would only have childless people as members. Yes, she does sound as though she was a very extreme case but if you make comments about her being selfish then surely you would be saying this to all the mothers on this forum. She was American but she would still be going through the same trials and tribulations as us but think how much worse it is in America. They don't do small portions. Maybe she was so frightened about going through an operation she did everything she could to sabotage it. Who knows, think about the root causes of all of us. You would probably find that no 2 people on this site has the same root cause. Who knows what her feelings and thoughts were. She may have had a really crappy life and upbringing and fat may have given her comfort and protection. I just feel she should be shown more compassion and less judging.
