My journey starts here..

Well here we go!

THG's patient transport will be picking me up at 4am tomorrow, so I will get to Dolan Park about 7am.

I'm pretty much packed - although I don't really need much!

I feel more excited than anything else, I'm pretty calm now it's here.

I will update my journey as I go, I will just take everything as it comes.

It's time to say goodbye to years of yo-yo dieting and frankly I can't wait.

Thanks all... Nearly at the hospital. Good journey so far with very friendly patient transport chap!

.. and I'm here! Reception is deserted. Hospital looks very smart from the outside, I must say.

I can't decide how I feel, after leaving home at 4am, I'm too tired to be nervous.

I guess I have butterflies a bit, but at the moment it doesn't really feel like I'm at a hospital. I'm trying not to think about it!

So the doc tried to take my bloods .. and I fainted!

Horrible sensation, felt nauseous and dizzy and came out in a cold sweat.

Combination of hunger/tiredness/dehydration/nerves I suppose.

I now feel a bit shaky - and I'm now back in reception! I'll be taken to my room instead and they'll try again later.

It is a nice place with lovely grounds, not at all "hospital" looking

I've now been sitting in reception for two hours! Not a good start. They told us it was down to a delay in discharging a few people but even so. I'm very bored, and still feel shaky.

Thats not good especially after such an early start xx

It's not the best of starts but don't let it get to you! Stay positive and remember why you are doing this. Good luck and try to smile, it will make you feel good. xx

Feeling better now, I'm in my room (at long last) and can hear ducks quacking outside! It's very peaceful here. Staff are all very nice.

Glad I brought the dry mouth spray, it's good stuff.

Bloods are all done, no problem at all this time - don't know what was wrong with me.

I've been told there will be some paperwork to do, then I will need to shower and get into the uber-sexy gown before showtime.

I'm OK, just tired and starving!

I'm all showered and gowned up - with the very flattering control stockings on too.

A tip - if you want to wash your hair at Dolan Park, bring a hairdryer! (luckily I did).

I've seen the anaesthetist, gone through my medical questionnaire and I'm now just waiting to see the surgeon to talk everything through. No idea yet what time my op is.
