My Post OP (Band) Journey 2014 onwards

I everyone,

I just wanted to start a new chapter of my diary for my post op!

As mentioned earlier, I will recap:

I have always struggled with my weight, up and down like a yo yo, always worried about things not fitting me, me not fitting into seats etc!

The turning point I went to weight management and although I understand it takes time, their journey was going to be too long for me...already I was having problems walking with my knees, tired, struggling for anything! I decided with help of my family to finance my own surgery!

I understand everyone's different but for me the gastric band made sense as portion control was a big issue for me!

I done my research and narrowed it to Nuffield hospital in Glasgow. Initially I was scheduled to see Dr Gallagher, but due to mix up with his diary the appointment was canx. I was offered an appointment with Dr simon Gibson, who due to work stayed late to meet with me..and I honestly couldn't be happier with my decision! I'm sure all the doctors are great but I clicked and found common ground with him, he have me the facts and I made the decision to book in! He was very impressed by the knowledge I had (thanks to this site)

So fast forward to 23rd August, after being on a diet basically since I left his office I had lost 24.5lbs Pre Op, again delighted with my progress!

The Op itself went as expected, I had lovely card waiting for me from one members of this site who had same few days. Prior (thanks again Kirsty) and with minor discomfort with wind I was free to go home following morning!

Since my Op on Saturday 23rd I have lost 2lbs in 4 days so I certainly am not complaining!

The restriction is there, and food all liquid is taken slowly!

I hope to update this new diary regularly and hope to inspire anyone considering any type of weight loss surgery to make their own informed decision, if I can ever help at all I would be happy to, as are the other members who are do friendly and supportive!!!

Xxx

Hello Sharon. I would do my own post op diary today too but I'm knacked. Done a bit too much. Got brave and am trying to feel about to locate my port. No luck yet lol

The journey down to the van was a bit harder than I thought, even as a passenger. All the bumps in the road and the shuffling about

Love your introduction.....thanks for all your help and support so far. You have been very inspirational to me and I will be following your diary faithfully.

Hope Katrina and Sam are doing ok

Good morning everyone!! Well last night I been up coughing and nose running, think I'm destined for a cold! :( which is strange as I haven't been sick for months since starting multivitamins! Maybe just my body adjusting! I did have some vics which put on my chest and put head over sink with towel which seemed to help knock me out! On the plus side of today, another loss! 1lb!! 266.5 currently/ 19st 1/2lb

Very happy, but eager for that other 1/2 lb so I can say officially have lost 2st! Hopefully this week!! :) Hope everyone has a lovely Wednesday!! :) Xxx

Hi Sharona, thank you for your kind words!! You are welcome to ask for any support from me!

The pain wasnt too bad, more wind than anything...first few days took soluble paracetamol and some ibuprofen but nothing major!

The best thing i found was rest for first few days, I slept quite a bit but starting to feel more human now!!

I hope my success continues! I cant wait to hear how you get on with your surgery!! :) xx

Oh man I feel ill!!!

I have the most horrible cold!! I can't shift, been sneezing and holding my tummy and feel like heads gonna burst! Don't even know what to take for it, maybe another 2 paracetamol.. Only took 2 this morning??

I did though change my dressings today as was little blood on them and worried they would get infected, they all look fine, one side had tiny drop blood , another at side like barely there...one in middle is the port as largest! Just in middle of my chest!

Thanks ladies, I was feeling a bit sorry for myself earlier! I took some paracetamol and sat with head under towel and some steam, not been to bad since! I hate feeling ill, feel like can't do anything lol!!

Well tomorrow my first big outing, well not really, off to the opticians lol!! Need to go visit my mum as well, she had hysterectomy about month before my op and still having issues with her wounds, not seen her since Friday! Although prob spoke to her more on phone lol!! Hope it clears fully soon!!

Thanks for the tip about the pillow crystal xx

I'm so thankful I'm off work for 2 weeks!!!

I hope that other 1/2 goes tomorrow !!

I have eaten little more today, worried wasn't getting enough, still all liquids, but soup and jelly and 1/2 shake!!

Anyways, hope everyone else has had good day xx

Take it easy tomorrow x

My wounds are yellow too so must be normal. I had my second dressing change today. Wounds look good. Just dried lines of blood surrounded by bruising. The main one in the middle just below my chest is purple and black

I have taken the dogs 4 small walks today and slept in between. Tomorrow I am going to take it easy as my wounds are a bit achey.

You have something to look forward to love. Sleeping on your side lol. I managed to get on to my right side last night. Bliss. Might take a while longer for the other side as that's where I most tender.

Night night

Hope that cold is gone for the morning.... Maybe try some orange juice
