Band leak investigations cont....and fill 14....

tomorrow I have to go back to Birmingham for the next stage in the investigations to find out if my band is leaking.

Since the complete defill and refill 3 weeks ago when they discovered I was missing 3.4mls of liquid the only real difference I've noticed is the acid reflux issue that I've not experienced before.

Tomorrow they are going to completely empty the band and see what is in there and how much has gone if any although I'm not sure if 3 weeks is long enough to determine a leak, but guess we shall see.

I have to admit I'm tired of making this journey. I feel weary of this journey and . It takes 3 hours out of the day. And I've had 13 fills so far and a defill,so this is my 15th visit post surgery.

I'm just hoping for some answers and that if something is wrong that they take action soon as it is approaching 18 months now and my after care will soon be up. Thank god I've got band warranty insurance to cover 3 years of issues.

Keeping everything crossed.....

good luck do let us know how today pans out for you x

Hope you get it all sorted, question for you, how did you take out the extra insurance to cover you for three years?

Thanks everyone, I'm just hoping that they work to get to the bottom of this pretty quickly now.

This was something that I took out via my own provider - 3 years warranty being separate to the after care package but covers leaks, slips, strangulations and band issues.

I wish I had been offered the extended warranty, I would definitely purchased one. Where did you have your band done? hope everything goes well x

I had my band done via Healthier Weight. But had it fitted at the Spire Parkway in Birmingham. The warranty was something that they offer, at the time when I booked it was on a special offer too that came with my booking in the month that I did. So I took it out along with the normal care package etc.

I don't know if other providers do this, or if there is a separate company that does offer anything, mine came from the provider itself.

I have same provider & used the same hospital but wasn't offered this. I wonder if they've stopped doing it?

band fitted 16.01.14

Im going to ask next week when I go for my infill to see if they offer extended warranty, or if they know anyone who does, as its a really good idea.

no further forward :(

Well, they emptied my band and I should have had 11.5mls in there but she could only draw out 10mls. It is possible on a large band for some liquid to be sat in the band system so not missing, but it wasn't enough to say for sure it was leaking (and they said it's not been long enough which I was a bit miffed at!)

After the defill she then filled me back up with 11.5mls which, if there is 1.5mls in the system of the band took me up to 13mls.

Sat trying to drink water after and it wouldn't go down past the band. So, back in i went. Syringe in and the pressure of the band emptied 2 mls back out on it's own and I felt the water pass through. So she then put 1.5mls back in,so measured wise there is 11 mls in there, but if there was up to 1.5mls of the "missing" liquid still in there I could not be at 12.5mls in my band. But it doesn't feel any different so I'm doubting that it does have that much in there.

3 weeks however isn't enough time to determine a leak,so I've got to do it all again and go back in 6 weeks but keeping a full diary of feelings from the band and if I have any acid reflux issues, stuck foods or if it feels different over that time to make a note of it. So back to liquids for 3 days and 3 days mash again lol. But seems that I had 3.2mls missing before, 1.5 mls this time but got to wait 6 weeks now to have another complete defill etc before we even get on to X-ray checks :-(

Oh the joys :-/
