Number of snacks?

Hi Everyone,

I am 5 days post op and already allowed purees which is going fine but I am finding it impossible to have the 3 meals and 2 to 3 snacks the dietician recommends. Not only is the food too much but the 30 mins either side I a not allowed to drink means I am not able to get enough fluids either.

What are other people doing? is 2 to 3 small meals a day enough at the moment?

You poor thing, I'm only 7 weeks post op but have only just progressed onto food due to some complications including 5 weeks of throwing up...

I really struggled with the puree meals/snacks regime and called my team, they reassured me it was a target and not to worry, that I'd get there eventually. I managed but it took 3 weeks! For fluids I counted protein shakes and soup so that way a meal was also liquid, see what I did there! Also ice lollies are really good, especially in this heat or even ice cubes. You could also freeze yoghurt to suck on in ice cube trays.

5 days out is so early on and it will get easier everyday.

Sounds like the pain could be from the major surgery you've just been through...! Be kind to yourself, rest, take liquid paracetamol and if it gets worse see your doctor.

Hope this helps.

I had a slight burning sensation to the left of my belly button a week after my op & people seemed to answer that I was healing inside.... it didnt last long.

As for getting enough in I am reaching the end of my second week on purees & still dont get all I'm supposed to in a day, nowhere near enough water (but have upped my tea intake, water & milk allowance there ;) )

I make sure I drink as much milk as poss each day, half a weetabix in loads of milk, soup, pureed dinner, & yoghurt

Having no hunger is more a hindrance at the moment but a blessing at the same time lol
