does anyone know if having a bypass affects flying?

also how quick after the operation would I be able to go?

thanks :)

Some people have the op abroad and fly home within days. So guessing the effects are minimal.

I just don't want to fly until I shift some weight. I could barely fit into a seat when I was 19stone. Never mind now I'm 25 stone xx

I asked this one as well and the hospital told me short flights (under an hour) OK for a few days after surgery, medium haul (3-4 hours) after two weeks and long haul after 6 weeks.

thank you that's brill!

I flew from London to Majorca 2 weeks out, was told to wear my compression stockings on the flight and wriggle my legs a bit, all was fine. :)

i am thinking of going on holiday to Turkey 5 and a half weeks after my operation (just over a 4 hour flight) ......

so I'm thinking from the replies i should be ok to book it!

So jealous!! :)

I really want to go on holiday but won't book until I've shifted some bulk. Scared I won't fit into an aeroplane seat :( anyone else find aeroplane seats a nightmare? xx
