Vitamins. What do you take?

I've got to start my pre-op multivitamin when I start the dreaded Liver Shrinking Diet and wondered what everyone bought?

The hospital sheet says 'general multivitamin' but I looked at them today - all ten million bottles of them - and came out empty handed.

I'm going to brave it again once I'm armed with some 'been there done that' advice. If anyone had any?

I use centrum chewable, they taste ok and seem to have a good all round vitamin and mineral content. They're expensive tho!

I used sainsburys a-z vitamins pre op, and I have bought centrum chewable for post op. Look in the supermarkets I got my chewable tablets on 3 for.2

I started off on the chewable centrum but they made me feel rather sick so the next one I tried was the adsa chewable multi vitamins and I have been on them for 5 months now.

When I had my pre op they gave me a list of my providers approved vitamins.

It seems centrium is a standard one from most providers! It also suggested I take pregnicare and all sorts of random things I need to confirm on my op date if I have to have all or just one!!

I was taking Centrum pre-op, and when I spoke to my dietician before I left the hospital she asked which one I was using. When I told her it was Centrum she said "Oh, good. They're perfect!". So I will continue to take them :)

My hospital recommends Centrum 50+ (I'm no where near 50) but apparently it has the right vitamin mix for our new bodies xx

centrum chewables

thou at the moment im taking perfectil plus nails

I take Centrum Women, an extra B compound, calicum chews with D3 and eat 10 almonds a day for skin and hair. Still knackered ALL THE TIME

I use Boots A to Z Vitamins & Minerals- tablets are a bit big but can be broken in two. Do not need hair vitamins as I have not much left to lose........

I use centrum advance (3 for 2 at boots right now), when I saw my surgeon 3 months post op he told me to double up on both my vitamins and my calcium tablets. As the centrum are so expensive I take centrum in the morning and boots own multivit a-z at bedtime. I have compared the two and there is not alot of difference in them, however the boots own are a fraction of the price.

I took sanatogen in the 1st couple of months post op. But at 18 months post op, be warned the list is rather longer now.

Morrisons pregnancy.
Asda skin hair and nails.
Sainsbury's calcium and vitamin D. ×2 (am and pm).
Just vitamins 5000iu vitamin D.
Just vitamins B12 sublingual.

Does it depend on what surgery for the vitamins? I'm getting the band done and have my pre op tomorrow but I thought just a multi vitamin maybe ok?? X

Yes, for a band your needs are not as great. Your intestines will still be able to absorb nutrients normally. But it is still essential you take a good multivitamin as your intake is greatly reduced.

Asda are doing 3for £10 at the moment but I did fine super drug on the net I think it was 60 tablets for 2.99 but I don't have a super drug by me so I just went to asda
