Not looking good for me

So I had a gastric band in 2004 and lost 11 stone then in 2010 I lost it and regained half the weight so I had a gastric wrap and it was biggest waste of money I didn't loose a lb. the dr was a butcher. ( that's another story) anyway in 2011/12 I got another band in and the dr said it was difficult to get in. I got ill in 2013 and that band was also removed. I went last week to try get any other surgery as all diet and exercise had failed and bypass seamed my only option. Now there saying I might not be able to have it. I have to have a barium meal Please god let this go ahead as I'm very depressed about my weight and I have fully regained every last lb and more. Rant over xxx

Hi, all you can do is wait for the result if its a yes then fantastic, if its a no then WLS is not going to be the answer to your weight. How frustrating though and what an awful wait. Good luck

I really hope you get the go ahead... If it's any help I was banded in 2004 too and had a failed band removed ... Mine failed after 7 years ..

Kept it but was empty for 3 years sobi gained all my weight back..

Had it removed in May 2014 and had my bypass 6 weeks later ..

My stomach was stuck to my liver and I spent 90 minutes having adhesions removed to free my stomach up for the bypass.. The scarring was awful inside ... Even my surgeon was quite shocked how much damage the band had done to me..

Point is don't lose hope cos I still managed to have a bypass even worth all the scarring and the mess... Fingers crossed your surgeon can do something for you....

When will you find out?? Xxx

Do you mind me asking did you go private and if so who did you go with?

I went private for the band in France ... Had the revision surgery on the NHS at St Mary's Pasdington.... They do private work too... Imperial weight loss centre .. Google it ..

I don't know where you live but these surgeons are brilliant and love a challenge...

I live in Essex and got my referral to them via my fella who has had 2 failed bands (one eroded one slipped) so they gave him a dudenal switch but kept his stomach entire .. He has lost a total of 26 stones ... Point being they take on people out of their area...

Are you private or NHS???

I'm Irish. So my only option is private. We have the worst healthcare service ever.

Hopefully the surgeons in Belgium like a challenge as well x

Sounds like ya got to have ya wrap undone before the next bit...

I'm sure there is a girl on here that's had wrap undone and had a sleeve.. She just got to goal too.... Think her diary is Claire's revision or something similar... She went abroad for hers ..
