Had bypass 3 years ago,all was going well till 4 months ago, when my left leg went numb,we all know we should be eating at least 70-80g of protein a day,i'll admit i didnt keep a check on my intake, has my lack of protein caused my numbness,i look forward to any help on this matter

Hi, yes absolutely. Protein is very, very important. During the process every member of the team has said something about protein. The good thing is that you can increase your intake and within few weeks you should feel better. However, if you suspect it to be something else you should go see your doctor and if I was you is go anyway just to get his or her medical opinion.

Best if luck

I have developed a problem with numbness in my left thigh since surgery. I have mentioned it to dietician and consultant. Had my vit and mineral levels tested but all ok. Consultant said it is normal to get some numbness after a large weightloss and it should settle. If not go to gp. I also researched and it appears it can be to do with veins. Xx

Actually I would get your b12 and iron checked as they are far more likely culprits. Are you still on top of your vitamins? if you were deficient in protein you would have started losing hair again.

I am inclined to agree with Yve, I have barely eaten a thing for the past 10 months and apparently my protein levels are fine. Go figure!! I don't get any numbness either.

I wish you well and hope you get some answers. xx

when I had numbness in m leg and arm it turns out I was vitamin B1 deficient (Thiamine) so might be worth checking that out.
