Normal tablet/capsule medicarion

Hi everyone, just wondered how long it was before you switched bracket to tablet/capsule form medication? Got all my vitamins and meds ready to go, I'm just over two weeks out x

I didn't take any medication pre-op, I was given calcichew 2 weeks post op and forcival capsules 6 weeks post op

I am 4 months out and get pain if I try to take a tablet. Can manage the tiny Vitamin D ones...but everything else I still have to take chewable. But I think there are a lot of people who have no problems with tablets much earlier. I guess, like everything else, we are all different. X

I think I tried taking a tablet about 6 weeks post op maybe, just a small one and worked my way up to bigger ones. I'm 3 months post op now and can take medium sized multi vit ones now but haven't tried the massive ones like high strength sized ones.

I took tablets, including Forceval one day after surgery and have never had any problems.

I've taken mine today and no issues so far, spat the calcichew out though!!?? Any alternatives to the calcichews?

Well that was a huge huge huge mistake, almost instant stomach cramps, overwhelming sickness and wretching but nothing came up. Looks like I'm not ready to take my vitamins yet

im almost 5 months post op and still cant take big tablets they are chewable or soluble but i can take small ones

I've been able to take tablets from day one post op without problems..

Started my big centrum advance ones at 7 days post op along with some horse pill sized ones to help stope gall stones...

what are the big tabs you take to stop gallstones? Are they herbal from Holland Barrett never heard of these Im worried that i will get theses after my op . My mom has gallstones x

Hi they are prescribed by the surgeon before leaving hospital after bypass...

They are called URSODEOXYCHOLIC ACID capsules ... 250mg and I have to take 2 twice a day...

You should ask your provider/surgeon about them ... You may even find that they are going to prescribe them after and haven't mentioned it yet ..

All out providers are very different aren't they lol ..xx

I was a revision on the NHS

I had a private band in 2004 and has it removed and was bypassed 4 weeks ago ...

Ask what you want as that's what this group is about .. Xxx

I took tablets straight after the operation and the ones that are too big I use a pill cutter such as my calcium tablets that I get from Holland and Barrett 3x 600mg

i was told to wait until i was on solids (8 weeks post op) before taking any whole tablets x

I'm 12 days post op and taking my 4 regular tabs that I took before the op. I have to take them 10 mins apart. I took a calcium tab yesterday but in two parts.

I'm still struggling, been told to stop my iron and ask to change from Forceval to Centrum Gold because they're small, took 4 of my 8 tablets this morning, all fine and then 3 hours later, incredible cramping. Had to go out and get buscopan when I could no longer stand it around 9pm! Awful, hope it's not there tomorrow x
