Medication

I have been told by my dietitian that I can start taking my tablets once I get to four weeks post op (next Monday)
I can't wait because the different medicines I've been given are not the nicest.
I was wondering if anyone can fill me in on how it went when they went back on the pills (I take quite a lot for epilepsy and pain)
Even though I've been told it'll be ok, it's still going to be a bit scary and hearing your stories will be a big help :thankyou:

Oooh bit confused!

Do we have to stop taking medication after surgery? I take quite a bit for various reasons and not sure how I'll cope just coming off them and wasn't aware I would have to ?

Some medicine can be in liquid form.. And you should consult your team about the rest. You might be allowed to take pills if they are small or can be crushed.. :) depends on the medicine. :)

We were told at the information session that we had to go to the GP and arrange all of our medication to be prescribed into medicine for after the op as there are lots of internal stitches that have to heal, you don't have to come off anything but you need to have the medicines ready for when you go in to hospital.

my GP said that any pill that was less than 5 mm can be taken so I've been able to take a couple of them and I've had to open one of the capsules and take the powder which tastes really bad but the rest of the medication is medicine which I've found harder to take than I expected and i'm really looking forward to getting back on the pills :)

I was given normal tablets the evening of my surgery. I had to break some in half, but they did go down.

I am 2 weeks post op and I've been taking tablets from the morning after my surgery. I manage them all ok ... Even the big A-Z vitamins. Only issue I find is that by time I've taken them all on a morning, is that I'm too full for breakfast ?

I did it !!! I went slowly and I took my medication. What a relief not to have to take all that yucky medicine :D
