Almost 4 weeks post-op ... 25 days and not an ounce lost??? ?

I'm feeling very disappointed and disillusioned ?

.... Don't know what I'm doing wrong - I'm following the dieticians orders to the letter but the scales are just stuck!!

My patience is wearing very thin and I feel so down about it. I cannot get my head around how I can't be losing a single ounce when I'm eating so little ??

I know everyone will say stop getting weighed ... but I just can't help it ... I'm obsessed ?

I'm sure it will happen, its got to. It is probably just early days following your operation. Why dont you give the dietician a ring just to check and put your mind to rest? Good luck x

Hi Jacwat, I rang the dietician on Friday and she just said stop getting weighed and she was happy with my weight loss on the pre-diet and in the few days after the op.

I know I'm being very impatient and need to probably just relax about it ... But I just can't get my head round the physics of how I can't be losing anything! Just a pound a week would be great and a step in the right direction ?

Sorry for all the moaning x

I bet its a hormone or water weight thing, and you'll suddenly start dropping - don't fret it! Keep going and stay strong :) xx

Don't forget your body has taken a bit of a battering inside, you might still be swollen from the surgery and it takes time for everything to heal and get back to normal.

I'm sure it's frustrating feeling like you've gone through all that for nothing but it will work, just try and relax and give it time, I'm sure you'll start seeing results soon.

I can only guess it must be so frustrating , putting yourself through something so major and to not see any results !
But I have to agree with the others that 1= stop being a scale addict! I did weight myself nearly everyday after the op for the first week then one day I realised what I was doing and stopped myself and have gone back to Saturday weight in
2= maybe your body is still in recovery from the op and needs time to adjust to that
3= listen to your dietitian they know how these things work I know its frustrating but it will happen and this is just a blip on what is a long pathway to a better you
good luck

Your not moaning at all, we would all feel the same I'm sure. As you say, the physics of it all means that it will happen. Please just give it time. Are you drinking enough? Take care xx

I put on weight after the surgery. Couln't believe it...and started to feel very scared and upset. BUT....6 months in and I have dropped 7 1/2 stone. It will happen....you just need to allow your body time to adjust. X

Thanks Pauline. That must have been soul destroying for you after your op .... I guess it must have just been water retention etc? That's amazing that you've lost so much ... Congrats. I hope I have the same success xx

Are you eating enough do you think?
Sometimes your body goes into starvation mode if your eating too few calories?
And hangs on to anything you eat, maybe try to kickstart your metabolism.
Good luck x

I'm not sure whether I'm eating enough or not to be honest. Today I've had;

Half a weetabix and milk.
A small skinny latte.
A few tablespoons of a potato, Swede and cababge thing.
A few tablespoons of corned beef hash.
A small yogurt
A glass of fresh orange
A babybel light

Does that sound about right for 4 weeks out?

I would say your intake is definitely lacking in protein.

Are you having the Liberte or Danio yogs? They give a good protein amount. Can you have another latte maybe during the day. Also, making a homemade chicken or fish soup or something would add protein.

Today has been lower than normal on protein. Normally I always have a pureed meat meal and drink more lattes. My diet book says I have to have 6 items from the protein list which is meat, milk, cheese, yoghurt, fish, lentils or pulses and custard.

I just find it so difficult to fit everything in!

Sounds about right I'm four weeks post op , I'm not eating much more than that,
I've lost two stone post op, try putting your scales in a different area to what you normally weigh yourself

I can relate to this too. I am 3 weeks post op and have lost around 18lbs but it has just stopped in the last week. I know I just aint eating enough and that is probably the problem. I am trying to eat more but just dont fancy it and am not hungry but I think this is having an effect on the weight loss.

Hi needtofeelnormal, everyone is different some will lose masses some will even gain in the first couple of weeks our bodies go through a huge trauma.
I wouldn't say to stop getting weighed but I would say consider the effect is having on your journey on you emotionally. I only weigh at the GP's or hospitals then it's a surprise and official, plus your body fluctuates 2-3lb a day anyway so anymore wouldn't be very accurate.
One thing I would consider is how much fluid your taking in and can you up it. The more water, water with NAS squash etc you can manage the better, flush out your toxins. As regards food what your doing sounds fine, but add more protein if you can.
