Pickle Craving

femfrankie

Shrinking For Sophie
Okay as most will be aware i have not been well this past 6 weeks ..on the mend now though. Appetite still not back but for a couple of weeks i have had a crazy craving for anything pickled. For my mid morning snack I have just finished off a rammakins worth of beetroot, pickled onion with a chopped up gherkin!!
Am I the only nutcase that yearns stuff like this?? & should I be concerned??

Nope not the only one! I am craving pickled things too :) i had pickled peppers, pickled beetroot, gherkins. Yum yum yum yum :) need to get the pickled onions as after reading this now i crave those :) :) :)

I even had some sauerkraut too!!!! Because i just craved it so badly!!

its weird isn't it ...i am going through jars of the stuff!

Liked pickles but never in these quantities and never as a meal snack alone... wonder if our bodies are low in something although if thats the case i haven't a clue as to what that something is as there is nothing in them at all really except maybe a little salt

A pickle craving is the first sign of reindeeritis! This is a horrific condition, very common in December. Initial pickle cravings begin which quickly lead on to a craving for carrots and then hay. The patient may experience rapid body hair growth, brown and soft at first before becoming coarse and shaggy. Some patients have developed growths to the top of the head, hard and horny in material.
The long term prognosis is not good, it can be treated with Christmas cheer and festivity but most patients will see a full transformation by the 25th December to large mammal creature with a desire to pull a sleigh!!

Good luck!!!

I love beetroot (always did but even more so now) but omg when I go to the loo (TMI!!) I think I need to ring 999 :(

Nope! Reading this made my mouth water :)

:rotflmao: at the replies hehe
Butterfly I can relate to the loo experience .. Beetroot certainly makes for interesting pee and poos that's for sure :giggle: ... Sorry
I have went through half a jar of it today .. And half a jar of gherkins  ohhh and a jar of cockles including the liquid. Damn my mouth is watering again

OMG  I am soooo craving beetroot and pickled onions and have been for over a YEAR. I would KILL to have some. Quite literally.

My last foray into beetroot apart from some comedy wee, was a Cillit Bang and Marigolds to clean the kitchen (for my husband I might add, I had to go and lie down).

Funnily enough in the last 10 days I've been officially diagnosed as sodium/salt deficient !!

:rotflmao: me too  Nicola

Ohhhhhh jemima this bought back a memory of my MIL and I pressure cooking beetroot in her newly painted kitchen. The gauge blew off and all we could both do was stand in a far corner of the kitchen gripping each other in hysterical laughter whilst the kitchen ceiling dripped blood red beetroot juice... It was like a horror movie scene bloodbath. The clean up wasn't so hysterical though hehehe

OMG. I think I've just had an accident laughing so much t your pressure cooker incident. Oh dear....... how can it just be such delicious stuff but do so much damage.

I'm going to go and droooooooollllll over a jar I have in my cupboard, I'm going out, I may be some time.....

So sorry Jemma that another deficiency has been identified. It's funny but this did cross my mind last night if it is it possible that this overwhelming craving is a result of a salt deficiency. I'm not big on adding it to my food. I still have no appetite but it's saltier things like oxo cube drinks that I yearn for. So it does make sense. Only thing is no matter how much I'm putting in via the oxo and pickles it's not alleviating it. .... Or maybe I'm just turning into the pickle monster!

What an orgasmic morning..... gazing lovingly at a jar of beetroot, I'm not brave enough to open it........ mmmmmmmmmm

In Sainsburys this morning, I got some Bovril, my dietician will be pleased (err if I open the jar, make the hot drink, swallow it and the minor issue of keeping it down).

Oh my, the picked onion vision has now popped into my mind.... Mmmmmmm

hahaha step aside jemima because next to my pickle craving bovril and oxo are also on my must have list. made the mistake of picking up marmite instead last week :yuk: :9529:

Until last year I was the biggest marmite fan, YES I would have bathed in it if I could (without being arrested). Now..... even the thought of the smell of it, let alone opening the jar is making me queezy.

I was born with a thickly spread marmite soldier in my hand (possibly LOL)

I tried I really tried but no ... Marmite is definetly a love or hate it kind of thing
