Breakfast and protein

I'm looking for some ideas.....

Struggling for breakfast and in particular good protein breakfasts as I can't eat eggs???

I'm also struggling to get enough protein over the day. I'm only averaging about 30-40g per day. I don't really want to use drinks or bars supplements because I feel it will either bump up the calories (I'm currently in 800-900 per day). The alternative to keep calories down is to swap a meal for a protein replacement bug that's not something I find sustainable for me.

Do any help and recommendations welcome :)

im looking forward to seeing the responses as im in the same boat as you!

hi Suzie

Are you on My Fitness Pal? If so there is a good section on there for protein breakfasts. Might be worth a look! I will see if I can find the link but may be worth a search on MFP! Good luck, you are doing great! x

Porridge
Danio yoghurts 11g of protein
Baked beans and a slice of bacon
Mug of warm milk

Those are a few suggestions... Most days I average around 40g of protein..to get it up needs dense protein like chicken and other meat.
One thing I also find good for tea is a lunchables pack of ham and cheese with crackers, 20g just about and I eat this slowly over about an hour.

Good luck

Hi Susie,
I have been investigating about good protein sources. I can't stand those sweet protein drinks. I will be ordering chia seeds and hemp seeds from Amazon. Both are high in protein and source of other goodies - may be useful to boost up protein intake?
I am pre op so maybe someone used these before and may have different opinion.

Are the danio yogurts not height sugar content I've struggled with high sugar content foods early days of my bypass!

My husband uses flax seeds - think that's the same as hemp seed - never thought to use them. Spose I could add a spoonful to my muesli.

I'm trying to find a way of increasing protein without a massive jump in calories because I don't want to damage my weight loss. but I suppose I could make some swaps too.

I have either:

- 1x Turkey Bacon rasher and 1x Turkey Sausage, with Plum Tomatoes (for juice mainly)

- (sorry my work colleagues think its gross for morning BUT) Cockles!

- Chicken Chunks (if I don't want anything but need to pick)

Just eat whatever protein source you like, don't worry about if its a 'breakfast' food or not

xx

I love it at weekends, its like a mini fry-up (but not, lol)... I sometimes add mushrooms and beans... Never eat it all though. xx

Los in it have you seen the bars big Dave put on here see his link he's put all the information about the contents and they are very moorish but great for a treat. I bought two boxes from Costco as from Monday they will be cheaper than the ones Dave talked about. I tried a chocolate one from Asda they sell them for £1:00 Holland and Barrett £1:45 it tasted like a Cadburys mini roll you know the individual wrapped cakes, it was so delish but very filling. I only had half and eat the other half much later.

I've got weight watchers mini series cook books, full of ideas for cooking good healthy low fat low sugar food. Can amend amounts easily and reduce carbs. Lots of variety in terms of cuisines.

Thanks mouse for the tip will look up big dave page and check out asda
anyone got thoughts on those breakfast bars? I keep seeing them in tesco for £1 for 6 bars but worried about the sugar levels in them
