What is it? Had surgery end of Oct and had nothing but problems to be honest it hasn't been a good experience!

I was discharged from hospital on Friday after nearly 3 weeks and I'm getting worse. They wouldn't discharge me with any anti sickness meds and my sickness is getting really bad. I've felt so sick all afternoon and eventually been sick with this frothy stuff but I'm so weak I couldn't get myself back up off the bathroom floor!

I'm going to try and get an appointment with my GP in the morning but I was wondering if anyone knows what causes the frothy sick? Obviously a GP won't know as much as my consultant so thought it might be helpful to go in with some info.

Thanks!

Hi we're you not discharged with lansoprazole they stop you getting ulcers and the stop you frothing when bring sick, I'm not medical but it's the acid in your now small pouch that comes up frothy . I had it when I was sick with a tummy bug you should have gone home with vitamins and calcium tablets

I'm on omeprazole. It's the same thing but clearly it isn't working! I even took one early to try and ease the sicky feeling :-( did nothing! I have calcium and vitamin and christ knows what else to take too.
Xx

The frothy is usually ur siliva not getting tru do something you ate today is stuck and it's fighting against each other. Stay calm and just try wait for it to pass. Try drink fluids to push it tru but don't eat till its tru. Hope this helps

It is the same but polly is right all you can do I think is drink water and not get in a state over it because that won't help.

It happens to me regularly and I'm 5 years post op - the most common cause is because I have eaten either too much or what I have eaten has got stuck. Sometimes though it just happens, its awful, so sorry I can't offer more support.

It's fine :) its only just started happening to me. But like I said in the first post I'm that weak I can't get back up off the bathroom floor :-(

Waiting for a doc to call me back to sort out some anti sickness and pain relief hopefully something will come of it!

Ok so just been sick for 3rd time today. I seem to be getting worse not better. I slept in until 1:30 today ate at 3pm and just took some meds before bed and brought them straight back up. Felt sick all day. Its preventing me from eating and obviously stopping me taking my meds.

Does anyone have any experience of this at all? I'm at the end of my tether now. Managed to get a docs appointment for tomorrow morning but anti sickness tablets don't work for me the only thing that worked when I was in hospital was IM or IV anti sickness so I don't think it's going to be much help in that area :-(

Xx

Ask if you can have an injection to stop the sickness if you keep bringing everything up you need to get it into your body by another means, I don't know if they do supposorities ( can't spell) but you know what I mean

Oh god i don't fancy that method! Do you know if you can get the injections on prescription to do yourself at home? My meds weren't down for 1 minute before they came straight back. :-( x

Not suer about doing them at home I had to go to the out of hours service when I had a tummy bug and I was given an injection that worked within 10 mins

Cyclizine IV or IM worked great for me like u say within 10 mins the relief is amazing! But the tablets are pointless they did nothing I ended up having to have an injection of something else. Plus with the tablet form they take up to an hour to kick in with no guarantees x

Cyclizine Iv was my favourite its kicked in strain hh away and gave me a warm fuzzy feeling like I was so relaxed and in my own world. But the tablet form I agree are useless. I still have ondancestron ( can't spell. It) in liquid from and that does work. I have had awfull nausea and last night was first time I actually got sick and Id say it's cos I have been cutting down on the ondancestron
