Any chance that I would be able to have a chicken wing or two from nandos at the beginning of week 4 after roux en y or is it still too early?

do not think nandos sauce be good for you, but as a rule should,nt be eaten yet,
i know what you mean, im gagging a guinness, im week 1 out 2 stone lighter and feel like crap, spoke with my nurse yesterday and she even asked me if i had tried a guinness yet, half tempted too, less calories than skim milk

I think you should consult your meal plan, but think even slow chewd chicken might cause a prob on your pouch this early, be better having a guinness,

i know what you mean though,

What does you team say? I think the sauce would be ok but I couldn't eat that sort of consistency for around 10 weeks and still had to chew like mad to keep it down. Some people can't ever manage dry meat (nando's wings are really juicy so that helps and if you are eating out their menu is a good choice if you don't eat the skin). My post op diet was this - 2 days of clear fluid, then 4 weeks of purée, then 4 weeks of mash. Week 9 was solids - as far as I'm aware that is the norm for post bypass. There are of course variations but not heard of anyone being allowed solids so soon. Also when you first try solids go for things like crackers, chew well and they turn to mush. If you are going to nandos and you want to try something, at 4 weeks their mushy peas and mash should go down ok. I doubt you would even need both sides yourself. You could add some sauce for extra flavour. You shouldn't be eating more than a size of a ramekin dish anyway. I'm sure right now your imagination about food is running wild, I know mine was but be rest assured you will get to eat normally again soon and your still healing pouch will thank you for the wait. I can't tell you how many times I had my head in the loo in the early days, learning my limits, I even did it once at Nando's and it's not nice for other people when they are outside the cubicle too, waiting to go back out to their food.

My food imagination is seriously running wild!!! I spent £350 at costco to fill a new chest freezer on Monday with food I cannot eat, hahahaha.

I have been on puree for 3 weeks, next week i move to things like cottage pie, fishermans pie and overdone pasta (cant tell you how excited the word pasta seems to me!). Were going to San carlo on saturday for my sister's bday so i asked the nutritionist whether I could move into stage 3 then and have some overdone pasta, also whether I could have wine (hence the previous controversial debate) and she said I could (may skip the wine though), i am so excited.

When you move on to the next stages, try small bites, chew like mad, even if it a soft consistency, and eat very slowly. That way you will be more likely to realise when you are full, which can be difficult in the early days because you are still healing.

Tomato based sauces are usually lighter, lower in fat than cream or cheese ones.

Do take care. Pasta still hurts my pouch now! I found meat very difficult until about 6 months out. I hate to sound like a broken record - but the rules are there for a reason. Look after your tummies.
